96 XR400 project bike

***SOLD***

Well, things have reached the bottom line so to speak and I'm gonna have to let the bike go.

The motor needs to be rebuilt or replaced and I just don't have the money to do it. I'm hoping one of the inmates here will buy it and rebuild it because it really is a great bike.

The motor needs intake valves, piston, rings, seals, cylinder sleeve and connecting rod. I also know a guy with a complete, ready to bolt in, 97 XR400 motor for sale, if you want to just replace the motor.

If you decide to replace the motor - there are quite a few re-saleable parts from the old motor that could be kept as spares or sold to off-set the cost.

Everything other than the motor is good. Just had the fork seals done over the summer. Pretty new MT21's plus a brand new unmounted Maxxix6006 rear. Brand new handlebars and grips. Cycra ProBend handguards, Utah skidplate, Devol rock guards everywhere, front fender pack, rear luggage rack with bolt-on tail pack, Clarke 4gal tank. Titled and plated. Lots of extra parts included. Swing arm bolt is good, wheels, bearings, hubs are good - everything else is ready to go.

I paid $2200 for the bike back in June. XR400's are still and always in demand and usually go for $2000-$2500 depending upon year and condition.

I'm asking $1200 obo for this bike "as is".

So once rebuilt, you won't have any more into it than what the bike is worth. You could rebuild it over the winter and recoup your money in the spring if you wanted.

Here are the pics of the bike

Here is the bike in its current state with the motor removed.

Time to grow up and make some hard decisions....

***SOLD***

Yep - I'm putting her up for sale.

This is the most fun to ride bike I've ever owned - even though I've only owned her for a month.

One of the downsides to being self-employed is that when times get lean, you have to make sacrifices. Luckily bikes can be replaced and hopefully next spring I'll be able to get a replacement.

This is a one of a kind bike that you won't see again. Custom built and modified. Setup for street/daily riding. Totally awesome bike!

1996 XR426R SuperMoto - $3500 obo

Here is the rundown (and I know I'm missing something)

1996 XR400 frame (Colorado titled and plated)
Weisco piston set 426cc 11/1 Compression.
X-Rod kit pressed onto a 2005 TRX400EX crank - work by Mr. Crankshaft.
Ported and Polished head.
Kibblewhite valves and springs, 3 angle valve cut.
Stage 2 Hot Cam.
36mm Signature Series Edelbrock Pumper Carb.
2001 XR4 Center Cases Polished.
2001 XR4 Upgrade Transmission.
2001 XR4 Upgrade Kickstarter Assembly.
2005 TRX400EX 160 Watt Stator.
2005 TRX400EX Starter Assembly Polished.
K+N Filter.
FMF Power Bomb Header SS.
FMF Stage IV Power Core Silencer SS.
Hi Rev+2 CDI.
Hi Torque Starter.
CRF250 inverted forks/steering tube (milled to fit the XR frame)
CBR F1 wheels, rotors and sprocket
520 chain conversion
Custom battery box, battery and battery tender
Keyed ignition with hidden master kill switch
Steel braided brake lines
Custom levers
Luggage rack with bolt-on tail pack
Electric and Kickstart
Applied Racing triple clamp
Gets 45+ mpg and with current gearing will run highway speeds no problem

O.K. gotta start clearing some stuff in the hopes of finding a decent DS bike for Becky this Christmas, also I just need the room. Paula brought her DR over tonight to let Becky try it out. That's all it took, hook, line and sinker.

This is all in the Laramie area, however I do go to Colorado (Fort Collins, Estes Park, Boulder, Colorado Springs) quite often and could meet someone or drop them off.

For now, I have three Hyloft 36"x36" hanging shelf units. These are great for storing gear and parts out of the way. These hang from the ceiling and are adjustable for height. They will hold 150#. I have five and only need two, they are new in the boxes (boxes look like hell, but the product is fine). I would like $20 each.

I also have a nearly new Roketa 125cc 4 stroke pit bike. 4speed, centrifical clutch, disc brake, etc... Blue and white. I bought it to try to get the kids involved in motorcycling. We used it once and they decided it wasn't for them. The seat is a little wonkey, but I'll have a look and fix it beforehand. It is a fun little bike, it runs well, starts easy and is generally user friendly. Great for kids or for the Hooligan TT races. I would like to get as close to $500 as I can.

Camera battery is dead.. Recharging as I write this. I'll have picks soon.

I also have a little gear. I'll find it and get it up here as well.

PM for details.

Thanks!

How can it be fun if there's not at least an outside chance of dying?

I have a pair of sidis size 42. cant remember which model, in good shape.

They are too small for me. I wear 42 but not when I get thick moto socks on my feet.

I bought them from another inmate a year or so ago...I'll sell them for $60 plus shipping.
