The Offical AdvRider St.Patty's Day Kokopelli's Trail Ride!
The start. I'll let other fill in the details. Riders just arriving and setting up camps for the night.
The plan here is to ride from Grand Junction Colorado to Moab Utah using as much of the Kokopelli Trail as possible and legal. In reseaching for what is open to motorized we found out that some parts of the motorized trail are still snow covered AND because of fading day light others were skipped. But part of the adventure is to deal with what's thrown at you, keep going, and have fun. Of ALL the riders here, SgtMarty is an Outstanding example! To SgtMarty and his heroic efforts

So I left SLC sometime between 12 and 1:
![]() Got to GJ and set-up camp: ![]() Then we went for a night ride, and I remembered that Im slow off road and my weight plus stock KLR suspension = suck. I also went over the handlebars, but sorry no pics. Saturday morning: ![]() Trail head: ![]() "I think we go that way": ![]() After lunch, a few of us went up onion creek to the bottom of Rose Garden. Pictures dont do this thing justice. It looked nuckin futs. Cloud 9 coming down: ![]() Then up: ![]() Then sideways: ![]() We waited for the others, but light was fading fast and we booked it. Found out later that someone broke down. ![]() Stopped in Moab for gas, then hit up the Gemini arches trail for some night riding. Pulled into camp around 9ish IIRC. At that point only 5 bikes were there! The others finally came in, and a truck went to get the broken bike. Cookie made the best dinner... it was incredible! Washed down with some Sierra Nevada and Guiness... to die for! Sunday morning: ![]() ![]() Then I left for SLC. I took a trail on Uli's reccomendation, and Im glad I did. It was gorgeous: ![]() Between Green River and where 191 meets I70 there is a neat old highway I took instead of taking the I70. Looked and felt like it hadnt been maintained in a decade. Kinda parralels the interstate about a mile north. Home (when I left, this said 2710) ![]() Im so thankful to everyone, especially the Tramontana's and Uli, for this trip. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and met some really great folks. I hope I didnt slow you down too much Uli. It was a hoot riding with you, and I appreciate you keeping an eye on me. Not gonna lie... I was so done at several points. About 800 miles. 3 days. Stock seat. 2 get-offs. And I suck off-road. Everything hurts. ![]() Sorry I dont have any more action shots... my camera is obviously crap... And I was so far behind everyone there was no one to take pics of...

Whoot!!!
What a hoot this ride was!!!
I'm pretty bushed, and a wee bit stiff & sore. Truckwagon is home, unloaded and safely back to pasture. Now I'm gonna be cleaning and sorting gear the next three days from the looks of my garage?! It's ten before midnight and I've got to be at work(sucks) early tomorrow, so the few pics that I actually had time to take will have to wait. Thank you all for joining in on this epic adventure, I truly had a fantastical time! By the way, what idiot thought we could ride 147 miles of dirt, in a single day, this early in the riding season? More to come, I'm certain!!!
