This morning I bought a saw, so I'm ready for next time!
Lets get up North of Quilcene some time. A little more spead out and some longer trails. Just sayin'. You make that HP2 look easy.

Trap Pass...at Last!

Started from Quilcene with about 11 riders and lost two before we got to Rocky Brook. Steven and Greg took the Penny Creek rd thinking the leaders had gone that way and poured the coal to their Beemers trying to catch up. Steven says that by the time they realised the mistake they were closer to Port Angeles than Quilcene!

Here's the view from Buck Mt. looking West.

Thanks Aaron for getting us on a new road.
Here's most of the gang gathered at the Duckabush turnoff. That's Aaron, Forrest, Paul, Cameron and Les, a new rider. Red's adjusting his gear and Dan is ready to lead off.

Here's a look down at the 2502 Rd from the trail at Trap Pass. So close but ohh so far.

That's next week's ride.

This was truly a fun ride in spite of the crowd. It was nice to meet so many new faces and competent riders. Thanks Dan for the suggestion and the saw that lets even KLR's enjoy these beautiful views.

Dave

Saturday Ride from Quilcene

At Pakled's suggestion and with sufficient grovelling by Atomicfuze, I'd like to ride the 2502rd off the Hamma Hamma Saturday the 9th. I'm thinking meet at the Double LL 9am, then the express route over Rocky Brook, then slab it to the Duckabush for a 10am rendezvous at the highway. This will give Gootch an extra 28 minutes of sack time and allow first timers to catch up with us by starting a half hour south of Quilcene. Then it's down 2510 all the way to the Hamma Hamma then up the HH road and right instead of left this time and we'll ride 2502 with side trips on the 020 and 030 roads. Afterward riders can do the whole Washington Pass thing or if time allows I'm thinking of riding the 2401rd.
Breakfast bacon eaters let's try to get out of Quilcene early so we can make that 10am meet at the 101/Duckabush parking area.

You can get them at a Olympic National Forest ranger station. REI, GI Joe's, etc. also carry a few forest service maps.

There's a ranger station about 1/4 mile down the road from Logger's Landing. You should be able to pick up a good assortment of maps from there.
