Jeff:
That is the factory mount and location. Thanks

Anyone have a seat bracket? I lost one in the Zinc process. Not available from Moto Guzzi.

What year is your SL350. I had a 1973? My brother prefers the 19691/2/1970 (VC carbs, electric starter)
The SL350 is absolutely one of the best looking bikes to ever come out Japan. It was OK at everything but very iconic and distinct.

I'm getting really close to being back together. I really appreciate all the help of this forum. Also a gentleman on the Yahoo Quota group has been fantastic with pictures.
I will never forget to take pictures again.

Thanks,
Les

Won't Start

I have spark. The petcocks are warm. I haven't looked at the plugs to see if they have fuel on them.
What's the quickest way to check if fuel is going to the injectors.?Loosen the hose clamp check for fuel?
I wired the the front turn signal wrong( I need to switch wires, LF blinks with RR)Tail light doesn't work. I screw with it to get a powerwire for my fuzeblock. Still looking for a seat bracket.

Thanks,
Les

Sorry Les, I don't have an extra seat bracket. Is this the one that (originally) bolts the seat to the subframe? I could take some pictures or measurements, there isn't much to it if I recall.

My SL is a '73. I'm not sure how attractive mine is - one of these days I might put real paint on it, but I don't want to have to worry about it getting chipped or dirty either. Rode it to work a lot lately, I love the thing.

Does the fuel pump on your Q run when you first turn the key on? I suppose loosening a clamp would work although that could be messy - don't know what spec is but 30-40psi could make a big fuel sprinkler. Can you tee in a gauge? It has to be something simple, there isn't much to the system... Good luck!

Called the dealer about a bracket. It's NA. It's pretty easy to make.
Fuel pump is powering up. I"suspect" no fuel. I honest think that i missed plugging in some wires. I've kinda run out of time till Sunday. I had a spare hour to work on the bike.3 steps backwards 1 step forward day.
SL350 very cool bike.

Thanks,
Les

Electric Petcocks not flowing

Electric petcocks...what's the deal?
The bike has been apart for a year. Can the petcocks get clogged? Can they be cleaned?
The chances of 2 going bad while sitting seems very remote.
I shot ether ...it farted to life for a second or so.
I'm really pretty happy

Thanks,
Les

Getting 12v at the petcock connection? They aren't plugged or varnished shut? That is strange...

I'm getting almost 2 volts. Another Quota rider told me you need around 2 volts. I don't have anytime tomorrow(I though t that I was free). Monday If I have some time to check some connections again. If no go ,Tues i will order manual petcocks.

Thanks,
Les

I think that's your problem Les - I just tested mine and I get about 11V at the petcock. With the ignition on they make an audible "click" when plugged in.

(I'm going to get the manual petcocks next time I order parts...)

Thanks,
I thought it was odd to have a 15 amp fuse when it only has 2 volts to trigger it. This begs the question is it possible to plug in the wrong plug? Or what would cause it to drop to 2 from 12 volts and how to fix it.?

Thanks,
Les

Wow, shiny! Mine is less so.

Did you figure out the petcock issue? I'm not very familiar with the harness, but maybe a good place to start is the relay?

Is that an S90 in the background? I have a first series CT90 that I need to rebuild. But this winter I'm planning to tear down the Guzzi to fix a couple nagging issues (like an oil leak) and replace the trans bearings, we'll see what I get to before the thaw. Dang, it's October!

I own my first motorcycle CL90. I/and a good friend are building a new 90 motor at Christmas. I can take a 90 motor to split cases in 55 minutes. Putting it back together takes years. My wife has a CT90. The bike in the background is my VStrom. I had a GSPD.
I bought new manual petcocks today. Another issue . I converted the headlight to HID. High beam is great. The low beam with HID is equal to a flashlight....WTF. I'm running a dual relay setup and new wiring to a FUZEBLOCK. I'm going to interchange the ballasts to see if that's the problem......I didn't need to cut a single wire for modifications.
I'm very proud. I will upload few photo's of Quota stuff.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but the connector for the fuel level sensor and the fuel petcock are identical and easily swapped. If you hooked them up backwards your fuel sender is cooked and your petcock won't open. DAMHIK

Sounds Ominous and foreboding. Would it cause both petcocks to not open? If I screwed up is this a fixable situation?
The petcocks won't arrive until next week. Life has gotten in the way.
When I change to manual Petcocks, will the Quota fire with a bad fuel sensor?

Thanks,
Les

The Quota is running

New petcocks=magical running Quota
Added bonus I didn't screw up the fuel sending unit.
Running very rich at the bottom end. I have a serial port power commander.

Thanks all for pictures, help and advice,
Les
