Another airhead oil thread.

But this is for capacities and factory recommended type. I can't find my little book and wish to change/flush/replace all the slippery fluids in my 91 R100GS.

What I need are the capacities and types of recommended fluids. Also, what is everyone using for spline lube?

Thanks!

I just used Honda "Moly 60" I believe the number was, on my splines. OK, Todd used it on my Splines! I'm not that smart yet. Oil, well I'm running a Synthetic Blended Oil this time, in the motor (20w-50) The motor seems to like it, pretty good. The Tranny and Rear Drive is running RedLine Hvy Shockproof Gear Oil,.....better known as Pepto-Bismol. Your owners manual will give you specific amounts, if not available, check Max BMW's site, and I'll bet you'll finf it there.

My personal experience with the Honda Moly 60 is bad. It is in the trash. In high mosture situations it didn't stay in place. Read - ride in rain - dry splines at 10K miles. I'm now using Wurth SIG 3000. I haven't put enough miles on the bike yet to comment first hand but others swear by it.

Ummm... before this turns into an oil pissing match, I'm not interested in brands, just weights and amounts. I'm pretty much sold on Amsoil products as I get it for cheap with an old racing sponsorship.

The children decided to turn my owners manual into a bathtub toy, so now I use thier stuffed animals as shop rags.

Dig up and download the owners manual. Everything you need.

I use, and swear by Amsoil, in my Oilhead! I'm just somewhat timid on using a FULL Sythetic in my Airheads, so I went with the Blended. The Amsoil Synthetic works really well in the Oilhead, and does'nt use oil anymore between oil changes. No Pissing Match allowed! To each his/her own.
