Sorry Rashy, I knew that one was yours.
Mort hit that one right to me--couldn't get out of the way...

The Brookside Inn was a great burger spot that was on the stream near where the Millstream was, lost to history--I'm still looking for the spot.

I'd be interested in getting a price for a print out.

Awakened a latent interest.

I might be wrong, but it seems that most of the people who have shown an interest don't use GPS. Generally correct?

I like maps. I like giving directions using NSEW and approximate distances instead of "a little ways" and "ya can't miss it."

I'll send PMs with the prices later today. I just don't have time to do the shoppin' from work. I'll order on Friday and get them here for the 15th.

.... and maps still work when the GPS batts go dead or 'ya tip over and smash the thing. Still have to dead reckon navigate so 'ya don't wind up dead!

I use GPS.

It's a good tool for being on the move.

But it's not a map.

I don't use a GPS to navigate much, I do use it more to record where I've been. Also being a digetal format, it's easy to send a route to someone. The other time I've found the GPS handy is when I'm going someplace in a town I'm not familiar with. I can figure out how to get to the town but sometimes when close turn by turn directions are work better than my chicken scratched short hand on paper notes, particularly while riding. One feature I've not used but know it's there is if I need to call for help the GPS will show my location to within 20 meters or so depending of course. So with a GPS and cell phone I've got a rudimentary SPOT.

GPSs are entertaining, and I use one, unless I want to know where I am, where I am going, or where I have been.

Long as I have enough beer and fuel, I prefer the trial and error method

Wonder where this goes? Lets go find out!

There's no substitute for a map and a compass, and no excuse not to know how to use them . . .

BUT, if I were dropped in the middle of nowhere, without any knowledge of the local landmarks, I'd find my way out a lot quicker with a GPS.

+ my compass can't find the nearest gas station.

EDIT: On second thought, that's not quite true, it would depend on how much detail the map includes.
