I saw some boats out there today and wondered if you put on your Massachusetts mukluks and hit the water. This was about 10:00 this morning south of Depoe. About 35 degrees.

Fishy, it was amazing to watch it escape the trap, I and then it just sat there and looked at us, looked like some intelligent alien being..lol. We threw it back. Motomuffin, I should have brought it to you to fix it up for us!! Zac, it's hailing sideways today and I need to go pull the pots...you game??

I won't be back until next Monday. I'll call a meetup then.
O.C., I just had a perfectly prepared octopus. Singularly sauteed with a bit of salt. Perfection arrived with a generous squeeze of lime. I agree, they are really smart so be sure to be that much more grateful. They are also not over fished.

SAVE THEM!??
One of them slippery bastards reached down and whacked me in the forehead at the OP one time,,,still got the scar! Building sawmills on the BC coast, we usually had one or two guys on the crew who were divers. Sometimes they'd gear up and go diving during lunchtime, and bring up all kinds of good eats. Trie a small ocoto one time,, turned out like rubber. A week later or so, had another one in an ice chest and stopped by a momma poppa chinese grocery (we were on Vancouver island) The old chinese dude looked at the 8 legger and nodded and smiled. So, I asked him,,"how do you cook this?" Well, after many minutes of language barrier, we got to talking with hand signals. He motioned for a big hot skillet,,gesturing with his hands that it was very hot, and smoking. Then, he took and imaginary octo in his hand, plopped it onto the smoking grill, and said,, in the universal language,,,"Sssst",,then, while motioning that he had turned it over on the (imaginary) grill," Sssst!". That's all!, that's it!,,,Sssst, Sssst = Done! he was of course, correct! ![]() I'm with Fishy,,I prefer squid,,,well, if ya can't get razor clams that is. But what's really, really good??,,,,Abalone! Mmmmm!

Not planned. Neighbor Tim said, "What to soak some pots?" I said, "Yeah. Let's go." Put some turkey legs in the pots, put em out overnight. Pull the next day. Easy Peasy Ocean Breezy Went out this morning to pull them out...windy with 3 foot waves...fun time! Got 8 more enormous crab that I just finished cooking. Now it's raining sideways again. Ah, life at the coast.

Hell we have all that in PDX today, except for the crabs. ![]() Not entirely true, since you can find them on NE 82nd Ave., but yours are fresher.
