First, it looked like this.

It didn't take long to look like this.

Since there was nothing to eat in the house I had to walk for some sustenance (well, beer).
My crackerjack "neighborhood".

It snowed, uh........6"!

There she is. The most awful place in the greater Portland/SW Washington area.....echo.....echo.... And it happens to be across the street.

While I was in there one of the TVs was showing the news. There was a reporter standing on a downtown street sticking her microphone in car windows. I couldn't hear what was being said. So here's probably how it went.

Reporter: What do you think of these crazy conditions tonight?
Car window: Dude, it totally sucks!
Reporter: Where are you headed tonight?
Car window: I'm just trying to get home to Beaverton.
Reporter: I bet it totally sucks up there.
Car window: Totally dude. Totally.....
Car idles away.

There actually was one interesting piece of videography sure to make its way to YouTube. A TriMet bus was heading up 26 toward the zoo.......but it was eeeeever so slowly sliding back toward the tunnel. That was pretty cool.

Hey, I just happened to have my camera with me today. It was a very entertaining day.....and I'm being serious.

I opened the front door and went outside the shop once today, !!

Then, about 5:30, Roy walked me to the store and back,,now I have beer, it's dark outside, and I'll worry about water tomorrow, or some time,,it'll still be there waiting,,until I get to it.

It is raining on my metal resonator billding as I type this,,I like the sound.
Tonite, it is coming in waves of light and heavy,,shhhh! just listen!

I was fixing my friend's water pump and headed in for a sandwich and a break. I saw the snow start falling and crashed out for a cat nap. When I awoke, they were telling me I should move my car up the big hill in his driveway to the street so I wouldn't be as stuck should I need to get anywhere. I fired up the 122 and proceeded up the hill where I predictably broke traction. Unpredictably, the studded rear tires kept gnawing their way, inches at a time, onward up the hill. I lowered the throttle and she kept gaining purchase on the hill steadily, and I made it. I did a few celebratory donuts in the Parr Lumber parking lot which had been untouched since the snow started, and found the perfect little place to park on the street. My slick soled boots were a fun way to ski back down the hill.

In the ever so predictable chaos that is Portland in the snow; a man in a truck parks his car off to the right, in front of me. Then inexplicitly starts to un-park his car into me as I lay on the horn in utter disbelief. We pull over, I take a cursory look at my 20 year old front bumper and wave it off as he explains that he thought that he was in park and was getting something off the passenger side floor. Scared the shit out of himself.

I would have stayed to chat but instantly a bus was unable to negotiate the turn because of my car and therefore the cop with his lights and sirens blaring couldn't get around the bus.

Typical first Portland snow. I collected good car-ma for when I do something idiotic but ultimately harmless.

Then I "tested" the brakes the rest of the way home for fun.
