Found a scenic byway just north of there (after we went by the stone barn near the tall grass prairie)
I think the byway ended at Council Grove (not sure) here's a couple of pics from the road.. (taken w a cell phone camera.. sorry about the quality)

He bought a new bike a few weeks ago, he trade a nice 2000 GS in at the KC BMW dealer, I think its already sold.. His new bike looks a little familiar.. Ha.

Neat church along the byway, I'm sure you guys have seen it.

Old K-10 from Alta Vist to Alma. Or vice versa. One of my favorites.

I think we saw one or two vehicles on the road.. Just like I like em..

Kansas had more scenery than I thought it would.. (I have mostly just seen it from I-70..) Nice day, a little rain in the morning, then 70s and low 80s and sun the rest of the day! (Once we got far enough North.)

Cool! My older brother Dale just did the same ride, he and my younger nephew did RagBrai last summer.

Looking for suggestions on places to stay for a trip towards Denver and Estes park co.

Leaving from Wichita.

We are going in the car kind of that direction. Have been looking on line at the places to stay in Estes park. I don't have to stay right in that town. Any good places any of you guys have experienced? We would like to swing by monument rocks while we are out that way.

The kids are out of the house and we are not under a specific time table to be somewhere, this is a first for us. I do have a local contact out there. However, he is like me, we don't generally stay in hotels by the house.

Thanks for any info.

Scott

14 years ago when the brand-new (at that time) GF & I took our first trip together (leaving the kids here with my dad) we took the back seats out of her van & just slept back there in one of the camper slots. Yes, I'm a cheap bastage.

I love my Connie, it's my Zen of motorcycling.

You know, it was lots of statements like this on the web, and this one in particular, that pushed me toward my latest purchase. Looking forward to many miles of enjoyment!

You'll enjoy it. You have all the Concours mojo without C 10's favorite insults:

Hey, I don't mean to hijack. I'm new to dual-sporting, first post on ADVRider.com, although I've read quite a few posts.
It seems like there are a few people on here in the Lawrence area. Anyone ever meet up and go on rides in Larrytown?

And I still would do that today.

We used to go to Canton TX for first monday trade days and sleep in the burban like that.

I don't think I can swing that with the girlfriend I upgraded 27 years ago.

Thanks

Scott

In the Lawrence area? Not OT. Looks like you satisfy all criteria for posting here!

Well thanks! Are there any good routes for Sunday rides in the area? I feel ashamed to have a capable bike and only keep it on pavement most of the time. Or group dual sport rides?
