Add Backhanded Egytican and left handed too. Dave and I are from Sydney. Dave did the Safari last year and we're both thinking of doing the 24hr next year - thought we'd have a looky see this year. The trailer is a 9x5 with a divider near the front where the wheel changer and generator fit nicely. Trailer is for sale and is listed in the flea market. It is coming to Adelaide for the trip and can stay there if bought by an Adelonian. Was thinking that service areas may be best place to camp but it has been noted earlier in thread that noise may be an issue. any tips and info appreciated. Ian Harmless lunatic |

I'm busy trying to find a decent campsite so Kipo and others can camp, light a fire, drink alcohol, cook food and watch passing bikes.
It's ended up being slightly harder than I thought. Those who are manning checkpoints want to take turns sleeping and don't want the noise, and property owners (where most of the technical sections are found) are loathe to invite drunken idiots onto their land to chop down trees and make a nuisance of themselves - sorry Kipo they heard you were coming! Many years ago at a section called Kalimna the drunks got their spades out and dug a huge hole in a water section and cheered everytime an unsuspecting rider came undone - I suppose you can understand the caution by land owners and organisers. It's too early to give up and I had the offer last night of a property where all of the above can be undertaken but it's on a transport section and probably as much fun as watching traffic lights change. Ian, if we find somewhere I'm sure Kipo won't mind you using it as a base. That means you can run all over the countryside and then gravitate back to the fire/camp when it suits you. If anyone's got any ideas they'd be appreciated. Trev

Unofficial Full Day Ride Saturday 5th July
Hi Guys Seems a lot of folks are in the throws of finalising for their big OCR 2008 trip up to the gulf country, unfortunately not me this year. So I've found myself with a full free day this Saturday , say from sunrise or thereabouts to before sunset, negotiable depending on interest (have to be home to feed the dogs) and so I'm off on a recce to route out another future "official" day ride like the last successful Fleurieu2 ride (hopefully without the 40C temps next time). Might even consider a repeat over some of those roads if my arm is twisted. If anyone wants to tag along for an easy days riding sing out. Can arrange for fuel stops every 120kms if required. Cheers

Maybe..
Maybe... what time are you looking at heading off? The bike's going in for a service tomorrow, but I probably won't be able to pick it up until Sat morning. Unless I can perform a small miracle...
