Thanks Kipo, have woken with a slight headache - must have been the Ross Estate shiraz I drank so much of last night. Smartarse staff suggested it would have been cheaper to buy it buy the bottle rather than the glass!!

Arborsmarty was even trying to HUG a tree outside the hotel..

Anyone in SA have a hand-held UHF 5 watt radio I can borrow for a few weeks. If I bend it, break it or loose it, I'll buy it/replace it. A handlebar mount would be nice too. I'm good for jocks and socks, before anyone asks.

I've got a Uniden UH720sx that I use in the 4WD. It's 2 watt but gives me great service. No bar mount but clips onto jacket if required. You're welcome to use that if you have trouble sourcing anything else - if it suits.

Has a mic and 12v charger.

No worries, Trev. I was hoping for a 5 watter, simply for the distance needed to bounce off repeaters. I'll take you up on it if there are no other 5 watt units available. I don't normally need a radio when I ride (usually alone and self-sufficient), but intend getting one in the near future anyway.
