Got Gas? Ver 3.0
Hey: I've been working on different methods of adding fuel range to the G450X. I strengthened the rear section and tested the setup in enduros and deep sand whoops.
Version 1 was the least expensive, and worked OK. But you had to manually pour in the fuel. ![]() Version 2 was better, it feed right into the main tank, cost a little more, but was hard to get my leg over. ![]() The third version of more gas capacity is what I should of did first, but it was costly. ![]() ![]() ![]() Some times you just have to bite the bullet and do it right. I live close to the area where Sandy hit, so the gas supply is short, I just have to find a place to fill it up. Jack |

Engine crash bars
While I was looking at the luggage rack that GSA_PILOT lead us to...I noticed the engine protection bars on the 450 pictured.
![]() I have since asked Jason (rotary racer) about it. Jason contacted the factory in Poland. They can build more. A group buy of 5 units would mean a cost of $150/ea. with free shipping in the continental USA. Otherwise it's $175 for a single unit. I figured this crash bar might be better as it mounts to the frame. It may be easier to perform oil changes with better access to the drain plugs. And it looks like it protects the radiator in a sideways fall. Maybe better engine cooling, as well. For a lot of the riding I do with this bike, it seems to make sense. I haven't been doing a lot of woods riding with it. I'll probably go for one anyway. But I thought I'd put it out there if anyone else was interested...the factory could make several. Quote:

Huh.. That company is pretty shady. I had a friend (from Poland residing in Poland) call them, and I did not like the answer they had. Several months ago they said they would not make any of those..

Besides the shipping issue (only giving UK for shipping) he was very happy with the product and it arrived fast. This is the only reason I posted on the thread. Having a fellow ADVer as the translator helps my trust issues.

What air filters are people using? Not exactly a g450x, but I'm finding the stock twinair filter in my husky 511 likes to tear on the edges.

I'm just using the bog stock BMW one.. (actually I have three that I use in rotation). Not sure who made them, but had no issues so far.

I have a triple clamp question I am hoping y'all can help with.
I recently installed a new triple clamp and noticed that after the install there is a small bit of play. Maybe 1/32 of overall play. You can only notice it when you lift the front wheel and wiggle the forks front to back. So, my question is, does everybody have this play in their front end? I did follow the proper tourqueing sequence and theBearings are basically new. Let me know your thoughts.

Your torque wrench may be out of spec. Can tighten the triple tree enough that the play goes away?
