Got Gas? Ver 3.0

Hey: I've been working on different methods of adding fuel range to the G450X. I strengthened the rear section and tested the setup in enduros and deep sand whoops.

Version 1 was the least expensive, and worked OK. But you had to manually pour in the fuel.

Version 2 was better, it feed right into the main tank, cost a little more, but was hard to get my leg over.

The third version of more gas capacity is what I should of did first, but it was costly.

Some times you just have to bite the bullet and do it right.

I live close to the area where Sandy hit, so the gas supply is short, I just have to find a place to fill it up.

Cool2 Engine crash bars

While I was looking at the luggage rack that GSA_PILOT lead us to...I noticed the engine protection bars on the 450 pictured.

I have since asked Jason (rotary racer) about it. Jason contacted the factory in Poland. They can build more. A group buy of 5 units would mean a cost of $150/ea. with free shipping in the continental USA. Otherwise it's $175 for a single unit.

I figured this crash bar might be better as it mounts to the frame. It may be easier to perform oil changes with better access to the drain plugs. And it looks like it protects the radiator in a sideways fall. Maybe better engine cooling, as well. For a lot of the riding I do with this bike, it seems to make sense. I haven't been doing a lot of woods riding with it.

I'll probably go for one anyway. But I thought I'd put it out there if anyone else was interested...the factory could make several.

If Holan has any other 450 farkles, Jason can hook you up.

If we are adding up to 5... put me down for 1. Let me know when to throw money at it. Thanks for doing the research.

Huh.. That company is pretty shady. I had a friend (from Poland residing in Poland) call them, and I did not like the answer they had. Several months ago they said they would not make any of those..

The Tally!

Over 1000 hits

luggage = 3 posts
gas range = 0 posts

I guess the inmates only want to go 50 or 60 miles with their luggage.

We call that a "Day Trip"

An inmate of mine got Pannier Racks for his HP2 from them... He crossed his fingers with making the purchase.

Besides the shipping issue (only giving UK for shipping) he was very happy with the product and it arrived fast.

This is the only reason I posted on the thread. Having a fellow ADVer as the translator helps my trust issues.

Seem to recall they were only $35 or so.

Found 'em. They were EBC brand.

What air filters are people using? Not exactly a g450x, but I'm finding the stock twinair filter in my husky 511 likes to tear on the edges.

Hi you can buy the setup brand new...
I've been in contact with Bert Duursma, incase you didn't know Bert designed the 29lt tank you see.
bert@bertduursma.nl
I am the OEM of this tank and can supply you directly if you wish. The tankkit consists of: 29 L PE fuel tank Mounting kit Rear fender Buddyseat The price is 1250 euro excl shipment.
The tank replaces the entire subframe and you do need a low exhaust. I can also supply the exhaust header and muffler if you are interested.
So if you are wanting one of these, then Bert is the contact.

I have a triple clamp question I am hoping y'all can help with.

I recently installed a new triple clamp and noticed that after the install there is a small bit of play. Maybe 1/32 of overall play. You can only notice it when you lift the front wheel and wiggle the forks front to back.

So, my question is, does everybody have this play in their front end? I did follow the proper tourqueing sequence and theBearings are basically new.

Let me know your thoughts.

I do not have any play. If you greased the bearings, you may need to perform the torque sequence several times to squeeze out the excess grease.

Your torque wrench may be out of spec.

Can tighten the triple tree enough that the play goes away?
