Hello is there any chance to put a radiator armour/protection together with a IMS front tank?

I use unabiker radiator guards with my IMS tank. It's a tight fit, i had to modify the guards and ended up gluing a strip of inner tube to the outside of the guards for extra protection. i also drilled out the threads on the radiator where the tank bolts on because it became a total PITA with the guards. I now just use a nut and bolt...

From what I've read IMS tanks vary largely in shape and size...

So I'm looking at getting another drz...found a nicely sorted SM for 4k but it has 17.5k miles.... What say the group? My other option is a new S model...but I really want an sm with a set of s wheels. 17.5k a deal breaker or things to check for before buying?

Keep checking cl daily, 4k for 17.5k miles is WAY TOO HIGH, theres much better deals out there.

That's a lot of Ks for a 2011 DRZ. I wouldn't add much for the mods. $6K AU tops

The IMS tank is unlikely to be any tighter than my Safari - I believe that it isn't. The Safari was initially very tight, but the plastic tank has settled with age.

Just a word of caution... The bolt heads at the rear of the guard should not be allowed to rub the tank. I use a packing strip between the guard and the tank to ensure that it doesn't.

I don't have an interest in the company, but I have tried a few guards and the Unabiker are the only guards that are worth the money and effort.
Thank you and See Three for the advices, I'll take a look to the products you mentioned. My IMS is the 16lt on, by the way

Good for you, it's rare to get your money back on bikes and mods, might as well milk the fun out of them!

Its only money, life and the fun you can get out of it (especially with a DRZ) are much more valuable

Let me give you an example, before I took mine down for a pending trade, I have 10,700 miles, thousands in mods... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=840577 <--- see here for list

And I was asking 3200 OBO for inmates, 3500obo for CL ads

I found exactly what I wanted so I didn't have to bargain with anyone and will be making the trade on the 8th.

4k for something with almost twice the miles is not that great.

I was in the same boat about a month and a half ago, what made my decision was the down low torque the drz has, been loving mine.

Around here (Los Angeles) cl, theres TONS of drz's, seems like each day a few more are added on, so theres a lot of good deals out here, in other areas where there are not so many, the prices can be higher, so it depends on the region imo.

but id say tops around 4,500, for this area, sm's seem to be worth a bit more then the s's.

yep, you lose money on mods big time, its almost better to remove them from the bike and sell the bike as stock and the mods just to be parted out imo.

I too am gonna ride this bike for a long while, i hope, lol wanna get every penny out of it.

Hey, congrats on finding a trade, i sat on a KLX250S quite a few times, definately a bit lower and lighter then the drz, its a very nice looking bike imo, post up some pics once you recieve it.
