Need to find some 6.7x10 tires

Well, let me preface this by saying that I am looking for tires for my 72 Suzuki RV90.



As you can see, the bike has very wide tires front and rear (6.7x10 to be exact). And as you can also see, they are a sort of half and half enduro tire, which of course means that they are ok, but not great on pavement, and ok, but not great in the dirt.

Well, the thing is, I have a spare set of wheels, with the same tires on them, and I would like to ideally run a set of full knobbies on one set of wheels, and a set of street tires on the other wheels. The problem is, I can only find the tires that I already have (Bridgestone somethings) in the 6.7x10 size.

Anyone know where I can find knobbies and/or streets in my size??

I haven't seen any scooter tires that will fit that.

Have you already looked at ATV tires?

Yeah, most ATV tires are too wide. Plus they are all square tires, not rounded like a motorcycle.

I've seen quite a few rounded ATV tires. The trick is figuring out what the size conversion is then seeing what's available in that size. I can't seem to find a tire size converter to go from inches to metric.

These tires are approximately 170x10. Although I would think a 160 would work as well.

looks like the closest ones that i can find are 21x7/10 = 178/79/10. at least, those are pretty abundant. check out:

Ok, I dont get the 3 number deal. What do each of the numbers mean in 21x7/10 or in 178/79/10???

the first number is the width of the tire in millimeters. the second number is the sidewall aspect ratio which is expressed as a percentage of the section width. the third number is the wheel diameter in inches its supposed to be mounted to.

for ATV tire sizing, it's different and much easier:
the first number is the overall diameter of the tire when inflated, the second number is the section width and the third number is the wheel diameter, all in inches.

edit: 'section width' is just fancy talk for 'width'

i guess i made it more complicated for you than necessary with my previous post sorry about that.

just look for something using the ATV sizing that you have enough clearance for :) I'll bet those slicks would work out just fine

I have heard that the following are a good replacement. Not DOT approved but we don't have a lot of choices.

They were a bit more rounded then the Kenda's were.

Rotten OEM tubes "55200-27130" with the 90d fills were 52.00 each.
Made me want to put some marine sealant (3M 5200 or Sikaflex) between the rims and try and make it tubeless. But I'd pay for it dearly someday when I have to change tires again and the rims are glued together.

Got my tires today & they look like they will work well. Despite the split rim, it took me over a hour and a little help from some motorhome leveling jacks to get the first tire off the rim. Then another hour getting all the rust off both sides of the split rim. I had about a 1/2 coffee mug full of rust piled up when I was done.

Finished the prep and sprayed the inside of the rims with

Got everything back together. The bike is a bit taller, I had to whip up a kickstand extension. I'll post a pic soon. I was wondering............

The stock tire ran around 11psi

The new tires are tubeless types but I'm running them with tubes.

It's stamped 15psi max for setting bead and 5 psi max operating pressure.



5 psi feels really soft and sloppy. Will I escape harm running at 10psi?

And yup. Thats a new bosch 6v coil for a VW.
