What color were the stock hand guards on your DR350?

I have a stock set and I'm only a few miles from you

Hard shift 3-2

Has anyone ever had issues with hard shifting from 3 down to 2? I can find neutral easy, upshifts are fine but the 3-2 downshift I have to stomp on the lever to get it to go.

I read the 3rd gear thread on the 650's but have not seen anything except for hard shifting into neutral for the 350. Anyone have any ideas?

Can someone confirm that there are only two different OEM cams to the DR350, the newer with autodecomp, and the older without?

THere was also a cartoon along the bottom of the page of a DR350 running from the cops, pulling a wheelie and flipping over and blowing up. Anyone got a link to that guys page. I wanted to read his section on clutches.
Hi MrPulldown,

That was suzukidr350.com - G Man's Suzuki DR 350 Resources. The domain name is gone and I've reached out to G Man about hosting the content on my webpage (no charge), but I've not heard back from him. Excellent site and I wish I had downloaded all of the content from it. I do have the workshop manual here:

Just a reminder for those with a pumper:

If you're re-jetting, and you don't put the little spring back under the plunger for the accelerator pump, it'll run rich.

Don't ask me how I know.

Now that that little oversight is corrected, got the jetting on my 91 sorted out for now:

Vortex airbox, TM33 pumper, FMF can, stock header.

140 main, needle clip on 4 (4th one down from top), pilot jet 40, air screw 1.75 turns out. Might go to 142.5, gonna ride it for a bit.

With the street gearing still, it lofts the tire in 2nd easy. Gonna be switching that out for lower, don't need to be able to do 80 mph, got my GSA for the high speed gravel.

THanks Bender,

At lest some knew what I was talking about. The site is no more, how sad. I was going mad looking for it.

Thanks for the link on the repair manual.

Cheers

The 3rd gear problem with the DR650's doesn't apply to the DR350.

If you're not running motorcycle oil (or running oil with "friction modifiers") it could cause problems as you described.

If you are using the proper oil and have an older (kicker) model DR350 do some research on the " Shift Drum Bolt" and possibly worn shifting forks.

The shift drum bolt is usually the cause for having a tough time finding neutral and it can lead to disastrous results if ridden without the simple repair.
Good luck.

Google is always a great place to start.

Or the DR/DRZ forum... one must join to read the boards but it's well worth it
http://www.maximum-suzuki.com

Or the ThumperTalk DR forum .... no need to register to read and tons of information if you know how to search a forum.

Motorcycle oil. Ohh lets not get started on this one. Or do, I love reading what people have to say about this.

I thought I remembered reading something about that. Well looks like I'm going in...

I'll check out the clutch backet, and add the kick start while I'm in there. Sounds like a great cold weather weekend.

Don't forget the keeper plate from the donor engine, you won't know until you've buttoned it up and try to kick it that you've forgotten it. It's the one held on by two screws, above an a bit left of the KS shaft hole:

You can just see the edge of it on the left, under the KS idler gear.
