I jumped the gun I guess when I said I had my fuel ECO back....

I called Jesse and he said get my right hand under control.....

I'm gonna TRY and ride it a little less aggressivly before I start jackin' with anything more...I can live with the drop in MPG but not with this stock tank....

Ps~Good score on that Acerbis....Good thing for you he didn't tell me about having it.....

Let's say you took the diaphram cover and the diaphram off of the top of the carb. If you look straight down at the carb and see this.

The inner red ring is where the diaphram attaches to the top of the slide.
The black ring is the grove in the carb body where the outer ring of the diaphram should go.
The outer red ring is where the outer ring of the diaphram actually is when I put the slide and everything back in.

When I try to fit the ring the in the groove I get excess like this.

I tried to fit it in there as best i could and get the cover back on without any of it coming out, but it probably looks more like this in between the cover and the carb body.

Assuming the outer ring of the diaphram is supposed to be the same diameter as the groove in the carb body, I don't know what happened. Because the diaphram itself looks absolutely fine to me. There's no tears or any sign of stretching or aging at all.

Maybe I'm not putting it in right?

Edit:

Also, about the hole in the air box. It's not bigger than a nickel or quarter. If you look straight into the access side of the airbox as if you were taking the air filter out. If you go the right (towards the back of the bike) and to the back of the box (opposite your side) and to the bottom. That little corner in the back is where the hole is. It looks like it was rubbed by something on the outside of the box but the only thing I can think of is the rear tire maybe. Anyways, it's before the filter so I guess it's ok.

Fix that....

Make sure your tank isn't contaminated clean the petcock and put an inline filter between it and the carb.
Also make sure you have a tight seal with your boots.

The hole in your airbox you can fix with some fiberglass resins and a small piece of fiberglass.Works great for those type holes in plastic.I

Yeah, I might as well replace it. I just hate the fact that it's $17 on ronayers. Oh well.

I did start it up again today. Once it warmed up I tried revving it up again and it got above 4k but it was studdering really badly. But then it wouldn't come down below 4k. It was idling at 4.5k and when I'd give it gas it'd very slowly rev higher but it'd stutter quite a bit too, but I couldn't get it to come back down below 4k.

DOes this till sound like the diaphram?

anyone ever find a "chain buffet" (gaurd) after market for these bikes? i was thinking about buying this one from a KTM so i don't have to remove the swing arm everytime it needs to be changed. i guess i could just drill and tap it for the new holes if they don't line up.

the part is number 3. this would be the one from the KTM.

Good point. Where do ya'll suggest I get the jets from? Bikebandit has kits, but if there's anywhere else that's cheaper or has a bigger selection I'm all ears.

Thanks for your help so far guys!

Get 'em right from a Mikuni distributor. In your area that's Tucker Rocky 4900 Alliance Gateway Fwy. Fort Worth, TX 76178 (800) 347-1010. My local distributor has all the jets, for the pumper, in stock. And, they're WAY cheaper than any dealer. If TR won't sell directly to you, they should do business with somebody local to you. They should be able to provide contact info.

DR 350 question

Hey guys,

Sorry for this sudden post without a warning but I have a big problem here and I need help from DR 350 owners.

A buddy who lives 300kms from my town wants to buy a DR350 N (no ignition or e-starter) over here. I went to look at it for him and the bike starts well and seems to ride well but makes a little too much noise, I think.

I've ridden thumpers for the last 10 years and currently have my 3rd LC4 640 and I know that some noise is acceptable in a thumper and different brands and displacements sound differently too.

I have no idea if the DR 350 noise is typical or not.
It's a sort of knocking near the head (I'm not talking about the knocking at idle). And it doesn't matter whether the bike is in neutral, in gear, riding or parked. YOu can hear it always when the engine is running.

It does sound a little suspicious so normally I'd walk away from it, not knowing if this is typical or not, but here we also have a budget issue. The bike is affordable for my friend and he doesn't really have a lot of money. I don't want him to come here and go back with nothing...
I'd appreciate if you could enlighten me a little :)

Thanks :)

Losiu

Jesse at Kientech is the only person I'm buying parts from anymore if he has them.

I get jets at my local dealer or from Jessie, both work out just fine:) There's no funky rubber crap in the pumper carb

Losiu, its really hard if not impossible to diagnose a noise remotely, the best thing would be to just use your best judgement. It shouldn't be a lot louder than your LC4. Being air cooled you might hear a tad more clatter if the valves are loose, but overall its a pretty typical motor in terms of engine noise if not a bit on the quiet side imho. Again, its a really subjective thing and I don't think its possible for someone on the internet to solve this problem for you.

good luck!

Thanks BP.....A knock???Huh??

My motor has no ''knock''....Actually it is super quiet as far as thumpers go...I'm with you on this one.No way of isolating a real problem with a bike if you don't really have a clue as to what it's supposed to do/be like.

I need more info before I touch this......

Dr350 Porn

Hey guys,

Just wanted to post a couple of photos of the DR350 we were all posting about. You know, the one with the buzzing noise that was thought to possibly be a counterbalancer pin but turned out (thank you LORD) to be the aluminum skid plate.

Hey BikePilot and Mulekick,

Thanks for that. I realize that it's impossible to diagnose the problem without hearing it. What you told me, though is enough.
The bike sounds like a potential lemon.

Based on what what you've told me, the engine is way too loud. Really - you gave me enough info to know that already :)

thanks

Losiu
