Friend bought a YJ so I offered to pick it up for him if he paid for gas, I had to go there anyway for other business so free trip for me.
![]() I picked up a 99 XJ just over a month ago and have been getting it fixed to resell. Had to tow it home because it wouldn't move on it's own when I bought it. I am now up to 4 Jeep Cherokee's that I own, a '94, two '99's, and a '00.

tj gas tank fix
My 05 ruby lj just started doing this. My temp solution is to listen for the sound as the tank gets full and note the galon amount, then slowly finish the fill up. JP magazine had a reader write in about this and will be publishing a solution in the JP '13 issue.

Yep it was locked, the amount of abuse it took to break that shaft was laughable. I have read many a forum horror story about D35 axle failures, and after witnessing this one first hand, I think with any reasonable respect for your rig and a little finesse they are fine for 90% of offroaders.
YMMV

This is why I love the 4 to 1 gearing of the T case in the JK as I was actually on the brakes at times during climbs the gearing is so low.

Damn I did not know that! I should be picking up my BDS 2" Leafs tomorrow. Hopefully it still rides as good as the tired stock leaves and worn out shocks. Either way it should be waaay smoother than the superlifted '66 CJ5

A lot of people like the BDS leafs. OME and RE are also favorites, good high quality kits that ride like stock.
I plan to upgrade to one of those lifts eventually... (probably an RE lift since it's the least expensive..)

![]() I went through 2 sets of the RE standard leaves. Very flexy, but I don't think lasted very long as the rears developed an "S" after only a couple years of trail use. And that is with the powerhouse 4 squirrel chaser.

An "S" shape indicates axle wrap... Have you tried mounting up a Traction (Ladder) bar?
I've seen axle wrap with a 4 cylinder SOA before, so it's not unheard of.

Sold the YJ a few years ago. I'm on to the JKUR now. I don't think I could ever go back in terms of comfort.

You don't buy a Jeep for comfort?
Guess it's all a matter of personal preference, I've driven in a handful of JK's and JKU's... They feel like cheap cheap plastic to me.
