Typically starter fluid or WD40 is used (but anything flammable will work) since that's normally carried. Spray a little into the tire and when you light it, it quickly expands, seating the bead. For those Arctic trucks (North Pole) expedition they would be hard pressed to seat a 44" tire any other way. It's a good trick to know and is very quick as seen in the video.

It was Blacktail. Great place to play all year.

If you make it over this way, send me a PM. The XJ in the pics is my neighbors. We'll be glad to take you out.

I hear ya... they were laying around the shop, so they saved me $500 on the initial project to get it rolling. Its a daily driver so I'll probably still go with BFG A/Ts or something similar when I do upgrade. These still got me through 3 feet of snow to get home though (it took a few runs).

I know I could put a LOT more into it, but for starters, the kit and tires I'll be buying are sub $2K.

Sounds like you're looking at a CJ or YJ. I don't think you'd be able to get a TJ that low around here. Probably a 2.5L, too... I suggest getting a good suspension lift and not going cheap on it. Or go sans and get some 31x105.R15's and wheel it then figure out what you need later. Jeeps are fun but do get expensive. Not to mention leak when it rains. I'm still trying to track a leak down in mine...

I agree with everything but owning being expensive and leaking a lot.

Modifying them CAN be very expensive, but if you do all the work and look even that is not too bad if you create a plan and know where to look.

I bought mine new in '95 and it has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. It has done the Rubicon 3 times and Moab twice on the stock axles too- so it has been used.

In terms of leaking neither the stock top nor the replacement Supertip leaks and I've never been wet.

It also was my daily driver for about 8 years.
