Well before I bought mine, that I didn't keep, I had planned a 2" lift, front bumper, and rear locker.

Travis is lucky to be alive.

I'll spare ya the details.

I think the pics tell the story. But he escaped with 8 stitches a broken toe, and a few scrapes.

The good thing about the 8274 is that they have made them for such a long time. Finding a used one is pretty easy. I've seen 8274's selling used for $500-600.

I have an old M8000 on my Jeep (bought new). Lower profile with the solenoid box under the hood. I've thought about replacing it but really I haven't used my winch that much at all even though it doesn't look like it.

Have you priced a new M8274? They are almost twice what I paid for mine new back in 95! The Rubicon was the second Jeep it was mounted on, someday there will be a third.

Yeah after they went to the faster motors and renamed it the M8274-50 they shot up in price. Actually of the winches have. I paid $400 for my M8000 back in '96/'97 now you're lucky to get one for $500. Still, you can find used M8274's on Craigslist for around $400-600 which is a good deal.

what became of my 9" diff. ~2 weeks ago. it was locked a couple of years ago but that broke so opted for the open diff until i could get shafts.

the carrier is in pretty bad shape luckily i have a 35 spline detroit.

got the re-build kit from justdifferentails.com and found out that i need more parts. you can not fit a 35 spline detroit in a stock ford drop out.

a look at stock carrier bearings vs. what i need.

so i called them back up and got a nodular iron 3rd
new vs old

all set up

I also decided to install the SVO (ford explorer) disk brake kit that i had sitting around for some time.

I also drove down to Portland today to pick up my shafts from Dutchman. super nice guys and there order forum is real easy to use.
new vs old

I also installed a set of tuff country 3.5" springs as the 5.5" springs i had from Clayton just rode to tough and i felt like they were not letting the suspension work the way it should. the jeep had really bad torque steer.

here is a pic with the old set up

and a crappy pic i took a couple of hours ago.

no body lift just a 3.5" lift on 35x12.5r15 tires. the jeep rides really smooth and its a hell of a lot easer to get in and out of the thing.
Tomorrow i have to pick up new shocks and it will be ready for wheelin. if any body here will be around Central WA. we will be wheelin the naches all weekend.

I hear ya, when I sold my 7 I yanked the Warn off of it and put on a cheapy winch. My Rubicon came with a Warn Power Plant, so I'm winch poor now.
