Found a nice looking '85 on Craigslist in Cary, $2500. Would you count on it for a 25-35 mile each way commute?

It's going to be an under-powered gas hog, like most trucks of that era. Easy to fix and repair parts should be cheap. If you can afford the gas then go for it.

I started with a older CJ-7 many years ago, then graduated to an '04 TJ. The TJ was the main driver so mods were mild, but it was very capable.

At the '04 Daniel Boone Jeep Jamboree:

Gone now - traded for my wife's minivan in '06...

Also have what was my father's Jeep before he passed away a few years ago. It's slowly morphing into something a little more than stock, though my 4 y/o really misses the TJ (he loved the top off). Shortly after me and my "helper" lifted it 2":

We haven't had a chance to really "test" it yet. I'm going to wait another year and make sure he (the "helper") is ready to make a day of it. Shortly before trading the TJ I took him out for a spin at a local playarea and wore him out after 10 minutes. Oh well - small steps.

Wouldn't do it if it weren't part of the trail system.

The Reiter area is state DNR land, but as I understand it, it's not an official ORV area. I think Snohomish County was working on a plan to get it changed. I heard they were working with the DNR to figure out a funding plan. They may have changed the zoning already. If any of the trails are officially approved, it's been a recent thing.

If any of you have any info on the Fordyce creek area closure I would appreciate it. Seems the Tahoe fire has given excuse for the forest SERVICE to close areas that cannot be reached by fire truck this year.
Cause this year is soooo fucking different than any other year.
But as I was planning a trip to Rubicon and Fordyce trails it is a little bit upsetting.
I have some pics coming from our Jeep'n this past week. I hope you all enjoy them and look forward to seeing more of your pics from recent Adventures..
