Juneau,Alaska...on a clear day
This is my first Ride report so be patient. Let me begin by saying that Juneau does not have a lot of roads. Approximately 40 miles from downtown to the end of the road. I am going to show you the longest version of our road by starting out North Douglas, heading towards town and then head out the road.
Douglas is an island that is connected to Juneau via bridge. This is North Douglas: ![]() Now heading back towards town we come to

Auke bay
I stopped to show you the Auke Bay ferry terminal since this how you would get here if one was to visit. I was pleasantly surprized to see that we had added a " fast ferry "
![]() ![]() actually you may have read about this one. These are the guys that ran aground and had to get a couple hundred passengers off into other boats and then be escorted to here. 4th fck-up in 3-4 years spells investigation by the NTSB.

I loved Juneau when I went there last summer. Me and my buddy did some cave exploring underneath Mendenhall. The blue light coming through the ice is just surreal. If I can find pictures I'll post them up. There's probably some great offroad trails around there.

End of the road?
a pic from Echo cove. The end of the road......or is it?
![]() if you look about dead center of the above pic you can see the real end of the road....if one can ignore reading " road closed " signs and my favorite " no thru traffic " the rest of the road past the signs: ![]() a few more miles and this is truly as far as one can go by bike. looking back towards Echo cove: ![]() looking north towards Haines and Skagway....only a few more miles...

The end
She wanted to keep on going but alas there was no more road yet traveled. It is true that Juneau doesn't have a lot of roads but the one we have has a view like no other. enjoy

Good report and good photos of awesome scenery from a location I may get to see, but I'm not likely to get to ride.
