Survived a war out of a rucksack.

Money buys BMWs and big luggage, but apparently not balls.

But I expect fun and enjoyment out of my trip. I even take some pain killers with me (blasphemy?)
Hope you enjoy your war.

your point? Were you comfortable living out of shit you carried on your back? I know when I spent time in the field it sucked carrying that crap around all the time and it's not "fun". I can carry stuff on the bike that makes the trip enjoyable and I won't be having dejavu about humping a F'in MOLLE pack.

I have found them pretty good. There are three clips for closing, which I haven't found to be an issue as I don't open them much during the day.
Super waterproof indeed.
They are not super big so if you are after an uncompromised 30+ litres capacity, they are not top. But I easily pack 25L in there.
Also, they keep their shape which is good for soft panniers.
They are pretty sturdy as well, got them onto gravel without major scratch. Light and easy to fit and take off.
Large good quality reflective stripes for extra visibility are good.
I give them an A+

For those not in the know, who makes them and what model are they?

Camping from my FZ1 in 2010.

i'm quite surprised at the number of folks taking umbrage with this statement. perhaps a little "to the core" for any forum other than Jo momma, but none the less poignant.

perhaps an softer interpretation is in order?

Very true, but I don't think that's how many took the original comment. It came across more like "If you don't camp out of your rucksack you're a pussy."

Some folks are into minimalist camping. Other folks like to bring everything including the kitchen sink

As for being a pussy... Well, yeah. I guess I'm a camping pussy. I can accept that. I like my camping comfort
