Xl600R rear suspension link
Hey,
I am looking for a rear suspension link for my XL6R. The link links the rear shock to the swingarm...I think. There are two zerk fittings on it, and it looks kind of like a dog bone. If anybody has an extra and is willing to part with it, I would be happy to pay for it. Thanks, Jack |

The Hot Cam stage one arrived today as well as the 1989 XR600 cylinder head cover. Just doing a cursory fitting on the 1986 Xl600R, the only snag is that I'll need the XR bearing that goes on the sprocket end of the camshaft, as the Hot Cam shaft size is a bit smaller than the XL. It is also necessary to flip the sprocket over to get the cam chain alignment right. Red1 in his posts had indicated that he had to mix and match rockers but as far as I can tell everything lines up fine. Pics tomorrow.

Having a problem with my XL6.
Lately, when started, it has developed a miss, right off the idle, quite often it will just stop. It will start again immediately on the first kick, sometimes keep running, often just stop again. The problem is just off idle, plenty of power and no hesitation when throttle is applied. Have pulled primary carby apart, blown out all the passages that I could see, cleaned the jets with compressed air. Bike has a new ricky stator, coil, CDI and spark plug. I have replaced the fuel and cleaned out the lines.... Got me confused...any ideas??? ![]()

1989 Rocker Cover from E-bay ![]() The Description when purchased said it was a 1989 Hot Cam, The box it came in said 93 XR650L. Installed in cylinder head cover with sprocket reversed. Also the sprocket end of the camshaft is larger on the XL600R so to make it work a 1989 XR600 Bearing was ordered. This was my best guess to how it would fit when in the head. ![]() One extra large rocker. ![]() The rocker cover and cam sit on the 1986 head and so far there doesn't appear to be any obvious problems other then the center journal seems a bit off center. The camshaft bearing will be here Wednesday.

+1 for rebuild or at least tear it down to see what the damage is.

Brad,
Do the olde screw driver Stethoscope trick. Get the biggest screw driver you have and put the handle to your ear and the tip at different places on the motor to try to locate where the noise is coming from. You can also remove the rocker inspection covers and look at the cam and rockers. Check if one or more rocker arms has a lot of play. That will tell you right there what's wrong. I'd wash the engine and frame above the engine first to keep dirt from getting into the motor
