Since all my Yami's only have the kick lever decomp, no manual option, I am used to that method and have never used the hand lever. Both work, personal preference . At least the XT's have a loud "click" from the release once TDC is past, easy to know, the XL doesn't.

As for the boots, as many said, they get by with tennis shoes, flip flops ect.. and that is good enough, just one time is all it takes for a backfire and ,ouchhh. I have a pair of Thor 50/50's, from quad trail riding/sand duning, they are nice and light, about as comfy as you can get as far as boots are concerned, even good when walking since they don't go up as far as normal mx boots.

I did the same thing.
Next rebuild I'm going to completely delete the auto decomp system. Fill, weld, and paint the holes for the systems. Might even get the chamber welded closed.

Well your swing arm and frame doesn't have sand damage. I can't paint my bike because it'll be ruined it just a year or too. I actually like the patina anyway. Anyway, I'm about to go put the carbs on and fire this beast up. Hopefully I'll hae a positive update for once! That's not to be follow with a bad update later

Ehh actually looking again, we're about the same. My 5 gallon tank is uglier than sin since I repaired the cracks and you got much better seat foam.

^^^^^

I thought that my seat had cardboard or something not foam. It is the most ass killing thing I ever had to sit on. Think someone took out a little to much soft stuff. I sure love that old turd.

Chris

seat shape does look a lil...off....and she sure aint ugly..pretty clean actualy...lot nicer than mine...i need to replace the fenders BAD, so bad i had to paint em black for now...i WISH i had an XL square light instead of the acerbis XR light..

ive been beating on my 600 a bit..catchin air n such like i have my 250..funny thing..the 600 goes up and comes down a hell of alot smoother..not softer..than my 250..it just feels more "right" where the 250 feels overly stiff..but that bikes soo clean im sure its still got that "new" suspension feel to it LOL

just about high time to come get tags, speedo and toss insurance back on it and ride the hell out of it again...but i really should do an oil cooler first..ugh

would anyone like used header copper rings??http://www.ebay.com/itm/EXHAUST-HEAD...926305&vxp=mtr

Bike is almost ready to fire. The compression feels so much better. I can actually stand on the kick starter in TDC

Somebody will buy them......

Probably cheaper to get new ones though, by the time one adds shipping etc.

Yup, that's what I thought.........These are supposed to be used ONCE, then disposed of.

Old mate is trying to flog used single use bits at a VAST markup.

Caveat Emptor...........

The exhaust seals are not one use. At least I have reused them. And I'm not talking about prying them out and reusing them. As long as you fit the header back to it's prior position they are fine. The seal has a two fold purpose. One to seal the header to the head and two, to protect the head from getting beat up by the steel header.

I don't think anybody will be starting THAT with their ARM.

Thumb FYI - XL600 in Tacoma WA

FYI BRP riders - there is a 1986 XL600 listed in Seattle Tacoma Craigslist but it's listed as a XR600R. 3000 original miles and he says make an offer.

Saw it searching for XR parts and thought I'd pass it along. The pictures look good..

Not mine and don't PM me - at least not about that. ;)
