My ex-wife did the same to me. I posted just a few pics earlier (the CBRXX) and that pic was last weekend, it was the first first time I was able to see my daughter in almost 15 years.

I spent enough money to buy a VERY nice used car fighting my ex to make sure I could see my daughter while she grew up.

I still don't think I was able to help her as much as I would like to have, but it was better than not seeing her at all for the past 12+ years.

My daughter will be 18 next year, and I do not regret any of the money I spent!!!

I got my motorcycle license and a divorce when Lisa was 4 1/2.
She'll be 18 next month, it was a long road to get to this picture.

In Oklahoma, when you turn 15 1/2, your motorcycle license turns into a car permit (as long as you're enrolled in driver's ed.) I've been letting her drive us around in my truck.

This is my girlfriend's daughter.(been dating/living together 2 yrs) She's 12 and loves to ride on the Versys. I picked her up from school last friday on it and she was the envy of all her friends. She told me when we got home "Next time, you need to pick me up on the Ninja!"

She's not "mine" - but I sure love her to death. Perhaps someday she'll call me dad....

Sir,
Keep up the good work, but don't go for the "dad" word. She has one.
Make sure she loves you, that is far more important.

I got two small girls when I married. They never called me dad and I never said I where they dad. Instead, in public, I always said I was their father. At least in my native language there is a subtle but important difference between those two words. I never, ever used the word step-child.

Now that they are grown, they introduce me as "my father" and it makes me immensely proud. Earning the role of father is much better than simply being it.

I now enjoy my first grandchild. To her I am simply Morfar (the father of the mother). You, too, will get there if you play your cards right.

oh well - back to our regular program.

Thank you sir, for you kind words and encouragement. I struggle quite often with the feelings I have because I do love her(and her mom, of course!) but she isn't "mine". I don't share well. :)

She is a wonderful, caring girl with a big heart. She loves her daddy very much, but she also gets to have me. I'm still figuring out who is luckier...but I think it's me.

Since I feel she is the cutest girl ever I had to post one more picture, taken on a hike recently. As a side note, a funny story. Right after I took this picture, I stepped back with my right foot right into a huge pile of dog crap. She was upset because it was all over my shoes, and I was mad at first. Then I simply took off my shoes, turned and threw them into the woods, crap and all. We did this : the whole way back to the car. It was totally worth an old pair of shoes and washing a pair of socks to hear her laugh.
