Hey Anders,
You need to be following the Raleigh/Fayetteville thread. You will find more ride related stuff there. Maybe you could come ride with the rest of us nutcases. Ray |

Aaarrgghh! Why is it I can never get to one of these??? I have stories to tell - old friends to see - new friends to meet. Damnit - I'll have to try for the next one.
Two weeks ago I did the Shenandoah 500 (there are lots of threads with pics) - it was a blast! 130mi of dirt on Sat followed by 140mi of dirt on Sun. Two weeks before that, I ran the Smoky Mountain Rough Road Ride. ![]() I'm the young, good looking guy. It also was a blast! Two more full days of dirt. Ya'll have fun. I promise to make the next one. Cash

Which bike did you ride on the Shenn 500? What did you think about the ride? I have 3 of them under my belt and I hate that I have had to miss the past 3. Maybe we can get a group from here to go up and ride it together.

In 2006 I did the S500 on the Cagiva - it performed very well. I just had to keep in mind the weight as I came blasting into corners and suspension travel as I came up on the water breaks. I just rode at a slower pace and enjoyed the scenery a bit more. This year I rode the DRZ - it made for a completely different ride. I could ride much more agressively. I must have jumped a hundred water breaks.
This pic was at the end of the first day - my legs were killing me but the DRZ was doing fine. ![]() Definately, lets do the group thing. It gets more popular every year. The Forest Service limits the registration to around 200, so the slots fillup earlier every year. I think registration opened in mid August and it was full in about a month. Cash Quote:
