Hi guys! Won't one of you help this damsel in distress? Pleeeeease?

I bought this luggage rack for my DR350 from Ebay and it's great! But now, as part of the deal, I need to ship back the rear fender support that he will then use as a core to create the next luggage rack.

Here's where you guys come in: I can't get the damn thing off my bike!! The bolts are on so tight I can't get them off. HELP ME! I need to ship this thing back to the seller no later than tomorrow. Please oh please won't you help this damsel in distress?!

Depending on the pattern like your front forks (remember rob telling you how you have to tighten one then the other then go back and forth to get the proper spec on 'em?) you may try that to help ease the bolts out. If the previous owner used a thread locker you may heat them up? I dunno....Rob's the expert there!

Turns out I was a pansy and was afraid to loosen my front clamps cause they were super hard as well. I just said 'f' it and used a little more muscle. I made sure to re-torq them to spec tho after putting them in and for fun I tried it again and it was about as difficult. I chalked up my small experience into fear and now feel a little better about trying stuff.

BTW, great ride report dsrider!!!! The pictures look awesome! And it looks like Picasa really simplified the process. Loved the slide show!

Also, I was thinking maybe we could rotate the pre-ride breakfasts? I'd love to host the breakfast one ride. That way it doesn't have to all be on Rob's shoulders. What do you guys think?

Besides when has abestos hurt anyone!

Just hold your breath and ride really fast... you'll be just fine.

Besides, I hear that asbestos is part of a healthy breakfast... at least in the china food pyramid. Along with lead in thier paint and other tasty treats they like to send over here clinging to childrens toys.

Seriously, I can chase vehicle if we need it, even for extra fuel carting. Keep my cell phone with you all, my truck has 4wd, stock but I can definately get on the fire roads with it if someone breaks down. It would help me survive mentally till I can afford a new bike.

That priller gets about 25 MPG and has a 2 gallon tank. My mechanic bought a 450, he says its a beast! He has done all of the factory uncorks on it and is getting 60+ hp out of that little 2 cylinder. He is going to need a 10 gallon gas can strapped to the back to be able to go with you all on it!

Well, today's the day for the 3rd RBLMS. Anyone keep up with WEC or ISDE or this competetion?

I predict David Knight will go 3 for 3 on a KTM

Look for a rerun on cable soon; it's some of the most impressive riding I've seen!

Thanks guys for making this a phenomenal ride day. The plan came together, the weather cooperated, and the dirt was soft.

Checking the map, we left the Panoche Inn meet point located on J1, headed south on New Idria Rd, picked up the dirt onto Clear Creek Rd, up to the junction taking R11, past the San Carlos Peak trail T153, and followed R11 all the way to R13, where we headed toward the Saddle area and T151 junction. Stopped there for a break then back tracked up R13 to R12 and made it to the top of San Benito Peak, the highest elevation in Clear Creek at 5241ft. Quite an accomplishment on the big dual sports in soft (muddy) conditions. After taking in the view from the vista of San Benitio Peak radio towers, we back tracked to R11, then to New Idria Rd and home from there.

What a day, and a sense of accomplishment.

Gail and John on their R1200GS , Andrew on his KTM950 AdventureS, Steve and his friend and son (names escape me, awesome riders) on their DR650s, Don on his KLX400, and myself on the F650GS. Having knobbie tires was the key today, I would be camped out up there right now without the TKC80 tires in these dirt conditions. The terrain was a bit loose to be polite, but so much fun. I took a nice mud bath in the biggest puddle on R11. All I will say is Steve comes prepared, and I greatly appreciate him getting my bike back in running order.

Here are the pics I took today. I will try to caption them later, tomorrow or the next day. Need some sleep now.
