Nice going Shazam

You really popped me out of my secret dealings, now the cat is out of the back with full confessions being made. I need tires, progressive front springs and maybeeeeeeeeeee..............an Ohlins for the rear. It vibrates like hell and is nice and light 1990 DR650, the first year of production

Little Miss kicks ass

I took the new kid out for a ride yesterday, we ended up on a very knarly 4x4 trail. Taking the second bridge at Pine Flat we continued up taking the wash out route. I was very suprised that this new rider was doing very well. We continued up the trail coming to a fork, one way leading a known route over to bretz mill camp, the other into uncharted (by me) territory. Well it turned out that if you go straight at the fork it turn into a nasty 4x4 trail with deep ruts and rocks, dumping out at the cul-de-sac where all the welfare gun owners and other inbreeding anti-social mountain people reside. She took to the trail like a pro, I was getting a little worried though, because I did not know where th trail led to, and if we had to go back up it, well, that would of been a long exausting trip for me. rossing over the final technical trial, the dry sandy stream bed, I had jumed off the GS to go and help across, and there she was trooping across a tech spot all alone. Hump-free station for lunch and a little venting by the noob: "you bastard, I told you to take it easy on me and you take me on one of the toughest trails around, you selfish pig, I am never riding with you again Well after about a gallon of diet coke, a peach cobbler and a little rest time she may turn out to be a DSrider Just think our first female rider, tried in the fires of the rocky rut filled trails of the Sierra Nevada mountains We will se what she is made of when she make (if) she makes an offical ride

Sounds like a lot of fun, and very similar to my first day! I'm starting to wonder if that first time trial is some sort of way to test your might and weed out the weak. Hmm..

Welcome and glad to have another potential dsrider LMS, hope you can make it for the 22nd!

Thanks for the compliments, Steve. I had a great time and I think I'm definitely hooked. And I swear, I really wasn't that mad.

I'm looking forward to the ride on the 22nd. See you then, Sellers.

I had a great ride this morning with my Dad. We went to Piedra and then through Wonder Valley to Squaw Valley for breakfast and back. We were home before 10am. Yikes! The road through Wonder Valley was great. I especially loved the 2 gigantic cows in the middle of road. Not to mention the free range horses, chickens, pigs, and peacocks. We had to take blind corners slow. You never know when you'll come up on a steer!

Yer dad eh? Will he come along on a ride?

Anyone looked at these - KTM 950r? Wilsons has one.... Looks like a heavy monster, but much more road worthy then mine. V-Twin as well, from the clips it looks nimble enough.

Maybe some day. Right now I think its a little fear of the unknown for him. After hearing about a few of my rides he might come around.
