I'm getting bored now. We all pretty much know what a "cafe racer" looks like, can we stick to the format please.

You see forward controls I see a performance mod. No it doesnt make for a more aerodynamic package but it does allow cool air to blow up your pant leg and cool your balls which has got to cut down on rider fatigue
Dont hate just cuz it doesnt fit into what YOU consider a caf '

I pretty much like all sorts of bikes (though not really into cruisers and choppers), particualrly modded ones of any description. This is a cafe racer picture thread though, and we all have a pretty good idea of what the genre looks like. It isn't a bike with forward controls, raked forks and a stepped seat, no matter how nice.

Per wikipedia:

The Second World War interrupted motorcycle production, but Horex resumed in 1948 with a 350 cc single-cylinder model, the SB 35 Regina. This model was highly successful: in 1953 for example Horex sold 18,600 of them. In 1951 Horex added a 30 bhp 500 cc OHC parallel twin called the Imperator. In 1954 it added a 400 cc, 26 bhp (19 kW) version of this twin to its range. In 1955 the company replaced the Regina with the Resident.
Daimler-Benz took over the company in 1960 and motorcycle production was terminated.

Not a name that I knew.....

but this one is good looking, too:

How would you classify the Harley I posted - a cruiser, a chopper, a tourer, a race bike, a sportsbike? He is in a race, around town and about to go past a streetside cafe

It may well be a racer, it may well be going past a cafe, but I've also seen plenty of Vespa and Lambretta scooters racing to and from cafe's in my time, and they're not cafe racers either. He's just a guy racing a Harley, he's not riding a cafe racer though..

We have 140 pages of cafe racer pic's here, most of them fit the description of the genre, lots of differences and styles, but when you see one, you do tend to know what it is.

Still not sure? Go back to page 1 and start from there. By the time you get back to here, you'll have a pretty good idea

This thread is getting stupider than the "best looking bike of all time" thread and THAT is an accomplishment.

It never fails.. Any and all bobber/cafe/dualsport/chopper/adv bike/etc. thread will eventually get infected with the "gee I know it's not meant for this thread but I really really think it's totally super keen so can I share it with you guys anyway" idiot.

...... and here's the proof. Get with the programme, the Alligator may be a technically interesting bike, but it is not a cafe racer.
