I did a total frame-off restoration and brought this girl back to life after she sat unloved for more than 28 years...

I was planning to convert a GL into cafe as I love the bloody humble engine block. However, I ended up with a CX650. The project is still on going.... |

First rate job on a really nice platform. I did a '78 back in the day that was a basket case, but not really the same as yours IMO as far as looks are concerned. |

I pulled the motor from the frame, sanded, primed, painted and clear coated it...and polished the intake runners, carb tops and a few other bits... There's no other way to remove the 30 year old gas staining and oxidation...

I'm not familiar with Goldwings but on some bikes there are other ways. ![]() No sanding, priming, or painting involved. Carb cleaner and stainless steel brushes are your friend, as are hot tanks and aluminum wheel cleaner. And time. Nice work on the 'wing by the way! **Full disclosure, I just remembered that when I sent the roundcase cylinders out to be bored they came back painted. But the 160 cylinder is the result of scotchbrite pads, a lathe, and some time. |

Xlcr 1000
I bought this XLCR while leaving in France in -79...was ugly painted blue, came from LA...redid it completly, moved to to SF in -89 with it... Moved back to Paris in -92.... back to SF in 2000. More cargo freight mileage than running!! I did not really like it: when it was not a valve guide seizing, it was 1st gear jumping out... My wife loved to ride it, it was "her" bike! Finnaly sold it...to buy a Royal Enfield Interceptot II (sold now... just bought a R80G/S (getting old or what!!)).

I'll add my compliments to the list - beautiful machine.
I'm wondering what's supporting the pipe out past the pegs - is it just suspended from the attachment point? |
