Hi Chris,

Spy Corner's closed but at the opposite end of the airfield there's a camping site called The Willows and the shot was taken from their grounds.

Things are a bit busy at Mildenhall at the moment with KC135's, C130's and even Ospreys based there now.

Regards

Reggie

I was stationed there 95-97, when half of the base was still open and they were shutting Alconbury down (where the 130's came from).

Last time I passed through was in 2002, been a civillian since then.

Is the Dragon House in Mildenhall Village still open? I loved that place, and the Olive Garden (Not the one us Americans know), too.

Hi Chris,

yep the Dragon House is still open.

Here's a link to their site.

I don't know about the Olive Garden though.

Hope it brought back some good memories for you.

CF100 Cannuck

CF100 at Base Borden On. This was neat because my uncle (Wilf Speck) flew these and crashed #18266 at Quebec City in 1956, right beside it there is a T33, he actually went to Palmdale and picked up the very first T33 for the RCAF in the early 50s, it made the front page of the Toronto Star, later he set up the training program for the F-104 Starfighter that Canada got when the Arrow program was cancelled.

Civil war was the first war that utilized aviation. Both sides had observation balloons. Tried to use them to watch troop movements. I don't think they were all that successful.
