May be sacrilegious / OT to post a cage, so I apologize in advance for possibly impinging on certain sensibilities... but this was back when I worked for Rutan, predating my now all-consuming motorcycle epiphany by about three years.

Thought it unique enough to include here, though.

I was riding today and saw this guy at the end of the runway preparing for take-off. You can tell he is a airshow pilot. He saw the camera and started the smoke.

I'm an Aerogeek without an aero.
My boyscout leader was an Air Force guy. We used to go to Wright-Patterson AFB every year for a campout. The highlight of the trip was climbing around the junkyard and digging around the carcases of decommissioned planes. I believe one of them was an F-104. We really dug the XB-70, and, IIRC, the had a Blackbird in the annex building. Around the same time, my sister lived about a mile from Selfridge ANG. We used to sit at her pool and watch F-4s and other goodies flying just like watching traffic on the road. The yearly Air Show was the best.

Later in life, I used to camp on State Land right on the border of Wurtsmith AFB. B52's and KC 130s(135s? the tankers anyway) doing touch and goes at 05:30 is one hell of an alarm clock when you are less than a mile from the runway!

A Cobra AH1F attack helicopter at Veterans Memorial Park In Kremmling, CO. Sitting in the gunners seat during a 120-degree bank-over is definitely an E-ticket ride! (My motorcycle is just out of the photo to the right.)

That is F101 Vodoo, I was a minute late getting a ride in a two seater while it was stationed in England. Very hot airplane for the day. Held the ground to 20K (??) ft speed record for its time.
