A couple of weeks ago I called from another trailhead asking for comfirmation regarding a sign that was up. It looked like the one in the pic. I was told that, while they had taken their sign down, the county had put up their own signs as well, and hadn't come around to remove them, that the trail was in fact open. It probably IS really closed judging by how anal this district is, but it's always a good idea to call and confirm. Assuming you didn't.

I bet the trail is open if the gate was open. I was told by the ranger it would open Wednesday.

i feel like banging my head and standing next to a guy with a shirt that says "Im with stupid".

Can one verify with a phonecall maybe a automated recording of what gates are open?

Should have but believe it or not that was more for the guys here. I took the long way home and decided to take a peek and pic to see if the gate was open. Had to pick up a kid from school at 1130.

But now that it is, I was thinking of hitting it in the am. Is there a time that one is not allowed on that trail? Was thinking of hitting it at 0-dark-30. Need to be back by 9am.

If the gate is open, the trail is open. That's the rule I live by, and that's what I'll tell the judge.

Rob, Marathon ride? Full moon ride and hit Saddleback on the way back. Should be home after daybreak with some GREAT views (and pics) of a sunrise.

Pitch black when I got there. Left home at 530 and dont know what time I started the trail. I was running away from boogie man. Or racing the sunrise.
