I had to admire this guy's straight forward approach to business. No smarmy marketing angles to cut into the bottom line with this boy.

Ok Im new to this site so I am catching up on old RR's like this, but I NEVER expected to see a pic of my buddy's truck on here!

Great ride report. Nice to see an Airhead putting in some serious mileage. Those old BMW's seem to be built to go anywhere and run forever. Thsnkyou to whomever give this report the bump so that it might catch my I and thank you Lornce for the story and pics.
Now if only I could get my brother to lend me his R75/6

You have no idea... ohhmm... ohhmm... ohhmm.

I've started at the begining of the RR, working my way through to embed the images from a photobucket hosting site. Frees up some space on the ADV servers and allows an increase in picture resolution.

Am adding maps to detail the route as I go.

Well... I just read through it again. I'm inspired. Also, I realize a trip like this deserves some time to take the road less traveled. Skirting the US boarder was an interesting take on the parries. The stay at Mike's log home was sensational - I've saved the link (you never know). And the Toad Rock is a gem!!!!

Hope this bump open's some new reader's eyes....

Great Ride Report! Used to live down in Estevan, SK and made that trip through the big Muddy many times to visit my GF north of Wood Mountain in Limerick. Great scenery that you don't expect in SK.

Just picked up an F800GS after many years of mx, and sportbike riding, with the last couple years being spent hooliganing about on a supermoto. This RR has inspired me to make the time to go ride some forestry roads in BC this summer and hopefully hit up the Toad Rock campground. Blasted down that road on a Gixxer before but was not taking the time to see what was on the side of the road!

Fantastic report, never thought I'd ever find Gowganda mentioned on the internet except for on my dad's blog. I'm planning a similar trip west from Sudbury starting on my layoff date of June 1st. I was torn wether to follow the trans Canada or find my own way and now you've got me sold on finding an alternative route. Thanks again, I'll be re-reading and taking notes

[quote=Lornce]Can't remember the name of this sleepy little burb, but I thought it representative of the type in southern Manitoba with it's storefront lined main street and breezey open feel.

In case you can't remember, this is the town of Lowe Farm Manitoba.
I grew up east of there in Morris.
You will never meet a more friendly place in Canada than Manitoba (well maybe Saskatchewan too).

I was lurking here for a while, but after reading this report, I had to join, just to say it was an excellent read and the pictures were great! Two weeks ago I bought my first bike, and I hope to make a similar trip in the future. I've never been east of Saskatoon, and that trip was so rushed that I didn't get to enjoy the trip, like you clearly did. Thank you.
