Just a little note that may help people:
Quicksteel (or equivalent) is a really good idea to carry!
I was out for a ride a week or two back with my brother (he was on my KDX) when he had a minor crash that somehow resulted in the fuel tank splitting almost in 2 pieces, there was a gaping crack about 6 inches long originating from the filler cap. With a little bit of sandpaper and some quicksteel, we were able to continue our ride for another couple of hours. It wasn't completely sealed, fuel would weep out a little bit in a tip-over, but it turned what could have been a bad situation into a minor incident. I will continue to carry the stuff, if it can stick to a plastic tank surface, it will stick to anything.
Also, good lesson here is carry your toolkit, even if you're just going for an easy leisurely ride.

I suppose all of us that ride in remote places carry an extra spark plug.
And I'm sure this has been mentioned many times in this thread.
But I'll never forget about 30 years ago an old friend that is dead now----he told me one day.
"Mark---if you've got a one cylinder motorcycle---carry an extra sparkplug"
Words to live by.
And if your riding a 1972 Bultaco Pursang---carry a pocket full.

Apologize is this mentioned earlier, I carry about 4 heavy duty zip ties, the ones that are about 1/4" wide and a couple of feet long. I just curl these up and store them in my air box. You can get these at Lowes or homes depot in the electrical section.
I had a crash, about 3 years ago, out in the wilds on NC. I actually stripped the threads of the bolts that held the handlebar clamps to the top triple clamp.
The bolts would still sit in the holes, but had no threads left so they would not tighten. I zip tied the handlebars to the top triple clamp and limped out 18 miles.
They can also be used to zip tie a tire in place if you get a flat and can't fix it on the trail, you just need about 5 of them.

I also carry the jumbo zip ties. When you get a flat and would rather fix it at camp or on flatter terrain. Just cinch the tire, cut off the excess and ride on. Air is overated
Been to Spain, Maine and Spokane. Jumped rope, smoked dope, farted, fucked and fought round the world, twice. Hell, I've even seen goats fuck in the market place, but I've never seen shit like this!
