Wow, you do have a nice "large" tool kit...
Seriously, you could cut off some weight by removing the redundant items.
I know you said it was for two bikes..

Husky mechanism switch worked more easily and the actual bit socket is 6-sided vs the Lowes which felt crusty and has a spline bit socket.

Anyone sourced any 5/16 shank bits other than short Torx bits? Seems the Torx are all I can find online but I'd love to find some 3" - 6" long Hex and Torx bits with the 5/16 shank size...
I have a source for 1/4 inch torx and allen. 6 inch long bits:

I'll play, fly & ride from Virginia to new Mexico.
The surgical hammer was used a lot especially tent stakes.

I bought a set, never used em, I use the 1\4" ones since they are easier to find, no need for the heavier duty 5\16th shank bits.

Anyway, the set I have is Plews Tools 6 piece metric hex bit set 72-961

Has 4, 5, 6, 8, 10mm hex bits and a 3\8th to 5/16th adapter if you wanted to use them on a regular 3\8th drive ratchet.

They are made in the US and are very beefy, the package must weight more than the sockets I keep in my altoids tin complete with 1\4" bits, 3" extension and 8 and 10 mm deep sockets.

Can't seem to find them online, can't recall where I got this set, it was either ace hardware or ebay.

I'm working on slimming down my tool kits. Many will do double duty. Several slick combo packaged tools are out there..
Sears, Lowes and even Walmart carries some cool combo packages.

Thanks Hacha - I was thinking the 5/16 might be a bit stronger than the 1/4 for the larger hex... not that the little ratchet would handle it better tho.

I'm currently going through my GS tool kit for a trip to S America next year and have the bad habit of buying a bunch of stuff to try out before weeding it out. Assembling a tool kit is like an eternal Rubik's Cube. 5/16 seemed like it might be a bit stronger for the larger hex and torx bits...

It's probably stronger but that doesn't mean the 1\4" isn't strong enough. I have yet to break one or bust the little husky ratchet. Probably had it for 5 years already and use it for 99.9% of ratcheting functions on the bike. Only time I use something else is to pull a wheel. And sometimes to break free some stubborn oil drain bolts.

I do carry, but only use for the two above instances, a 3\8th ratchet. It's a really slick telescoping ratchet. It doubles as a billy club.

Same here. That little Husky ratchet is surprisingly robust.

Thx Hacha and Jesus - glad to hear the little ratchet is so tough. Never used such a small one so have no reference as to durability and haven't used the quick bits other than for screwdrivers. Plan on using the heck out the little guy over the next few mos on the GS

I've used it to drop the forks on my KLR, but you'll need your gloves on.

I'd add a 1/4" drive extension bar, 3 to 6" along with a bit holder so you have more reach as a screwdriver.

Gear Wrench makes a set that they sell at the Canadian version of Lowes, but you'll need to replace all the sae hex with metric.
