Taking care of home from the road.

the jkam way was to sell it all, take the AMEX and hit the trail.

AMEX has offices in most major cities, will accept payments, hold mail and speak english to me after not hearing it for a long time.

If you have access to secure web connection, you can pay your AMEX bill online..

I've been doing this for years with AMEX.. Simple, fast, reliable... No need to line up dates/times for checks, finding a post office, etc....

I do that as well in the US, but when in foreign countries, I like to go to a local office, they usually have some good looking ladies to oogle over.

I left home for six months one time, fortunetly it was a small rental apartment, I had some money in savings and didn't owe anything. That's not true, now that I think about it I had a student loan I was paying off. I paid six months rent and student loan payments, turned off the power and phone and left. I also put some money on my credit card so I could access it from ATM's.

I ended up only being gone three months but it worked, and I didn't need to find a job as soon as I got home, rent was still covered.
