I had a rack fabricated for the RV. It uses two 2" receivers instead of just a center one. More stable and can handle the weight and rough roads better. It's made of 1" square tubing and expanded metal for the floor. I have a 5 gallon fuel can and the fold up ramp on there as well. Jay

OOPS!
It came on the bike. I think it's a Kawasaki accessory, like the tank bag. You mean like on these bikes. Here is one from Australia that I like and might try and get. It comes on their agriculture version, I think. ![]() You don't mean the wire basket, do you?

Ahhh, I get it now, it looked like the basket was mounted on a rack... similar to the ones you attached.
I just got one mounted on my XR and am thinking about the Sherp now too. Thanks for your replies.

Well, y'all know what Sherpas look like, so I figured I'd send a picture that features one of PA's fine roads!

That section of road is closed but you just ride your bikes around the barriers. That area is one of our favorite dual sport rides and there are some great twisty (nicely paved) roads for the sport bikes, too. |

Wait, I already have one! I love that lil guy. It's as versatile as the old Honda trail 90. I can guarantee the Sherpa will be the very last bike to leave my possesion.

The new Yamaha XT-250 looks like a very worthy substitute for the Sherpa. Sit on one and close your eyes and you can't tell the difference. I haven't been on a ride with one yet, though. It was a dumb move on the part of Kawasaki to drop the Sherpa from it's USA lineup. It has a very loyal following. I guess there just aren't enough of us! All my favorite Kawasaki bikes are the ones they don't sell many of: Sherpa, KLX-650, ZRX, Z750....... |

Just got my my "new" 2000 Sherpa, just 2300 miles and cosmetically perfect. The previous owner did a baffle-ectomy, which probably just made her a louder but not more powerful bike. Loud thumpers aren't particularly my thing, especially for the trail use I have in mind for this bike. Any thoughts on how to get a replacement without buying a new muffler? There is still a tailpipe, so I might be able to remove the rivets and use a universal muffler repack kit, but wanted to get other ideas before I take her apart.
