yami's japanese reliablity, big tank & FI seal the deal for me.

Well said! What's not to like?

Went to the motorcycle show today at teh Gold Coast where the lovely people from Yamaha were able to confirm that the Tenere would definately be coming to australia, hopefully by the end of the year. They estimated between 1500-2000 increase in price on the xt660r.

Here it was in all its glory at the show (08 model i think)

For those who can't get the bike for whatever reasons, may be you can get a Tenere-matching helmet as consolation: http://www.caschibye.it/page/prodotto_tenere.htm

Wicked Yamaha Motor USA

Everyone needs to go to www.yamaha-motor.com and fill out the question survey that is posted as a pop-up on Yamaha USA site. I requested to see the Tenere 660 to come to the USA. Maybe this is a great place for Yamaha to see what we want.

I'm in Florida at the moment, but when I get back west perhaps I'll pop in and see them in CA (they would be on the opposite side of the country to me at the moment eh?) - my Tenere should have done around 20,000 miles by then...

(here it is on South Beach, Miami - finally made it coast to coast on the 17th Feb):

The pillion hump in the seat is a nuisance when riding off road, it bucks you forward too much. This seat look a good remedy for this issue.

I must say I'm tempted by that too - I feel my seat has started to sag a little now (16,500 miles later...) and I'm beginning to notice it having done a few 300+ mile days recently...

I was thinking of putting a foam insert in (narrower in the centre, so there is a scalop each side for your thighs so you can still reach the ground) and recovering... but this looks like a nice option too... love the colour scheme, really accentuates the bike...

More info, and post a pic/info on XT660.com too please!

Hi Timpo, it's not my bike and unfortunately I don't even know the owner.I posted photos, because i really like the design. After little research I found this:

It's made by DDtuning (Czech Republic), they don't have English site, you would have to send them original seat.

You can contact them at ddtuning@email.cz

New BLUE one ---

I pick up my new BLUE TenZ in Edinburgh on Saturday - providing Ryanair gets me back from Franfurt on time.

Will seem strange going back to a single after eight years on multis. At least I won't have to put Conti's on my XJR for the dirt again.
