I don't know why everyone is suprised that Yamaha came out with this. They have been into rallies for years. Peterhansel won the Dakar on a TDM based bike 5 times and before that the old reliable XT5/600 won it.
IF they bring it to North America it will be expensive. They brought the bare bones 660 to Toronto at a Dealer show last year or the year before and that would have been priced at $9000 Canadian. The Dealers said, NO. |

Anyone have a specific address at Yamaha US where we can email our support for this bike ? Perhaps Yam will pay attention (unlike Honda) to the Suzuki/Kaw DS monopoly (dou-opoly?).

If this bike ever comes to the US shores, I'd be pleasantly surprised.

Looks like the '08s are already up on the Yamaha site. No Tenere among them. Couple of cool thumpers though.

So far, North America gets this..........
http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/pr...95/0/home.aspx If they can make the WR250 street legal, why not the WR450? Or is Yamaha testing the waters first? |

Needs to get back to work

Surely they could get the tenere to the US and easily undercut the KTM640 and all the BMW 650's. Seems like a High-End KLR alternative with modern technology. I'm glad they went for it on the styling.. I'm tired of manufacturers holding back.
