Fifteen years as a screw helps a person to think a certain way.

I`ve had a few beers in that pub myself, many years ago; that truck's heading south, correct? None of those pics are mine, biggest thing I`ve driven is a W model Kenworth and a 4 rows of 8 low loader belonging to Ranger uranium mines.

I did a meat season there in 1975, after cyclone Tracy, then up to Darwin for a month or so, then down to WA before Xmas.

Back up to the Territory in 1980. Left Ranger mines around 1986, then down to construction at Tindal Airforce Base on a crane for a few months, then back up to Darwin.

Mine had all the axles at the rear and didn`t steer, like I think that ones does and a beaver tail, no ramps.

At Ranger we had an 60 tonne all terrain P&H Omega, 22.5 tonne truck mounted Coles, which I did a lot of hours in, and 7.5 tonne BHB.

I was actually a dogman at Tindal on a Mack engined Kato; those old Maxidyne`s and Jacobs engine brakes cetainly did sound nice.

I`d gone to Tindal as a refueler, but am allergic to too much diesel and my arms came up in a hell of a rash. They`d just sacked the then dogman, and I knew the crane driver from Jabiru, so I slotted straight in.

He had a restricted ticket and wanted to get his open, but was basically illiterate, so I coached him for a couple of weeks before his test and he passed with flying colours.

Good to see you`ve finally managed to get a word in edgeways in your own thread, Ben, after the highjack from the Antipodes.
