However things work out for you, it has been a great read! I am sure alot of people are like myself and feel we already know you even though we have never met. If you are ever in Calgary look me.

Hey man, I do usually end up in Calgary once a year or so as I have a cousin that lives there and I stop in on my way to and from YK. Would love to join you for a wobbly pop one time. You should PM me your number again too as although I haven't done much research into what we were talking about, I have done some and just mentioning the idea always generates a positive response.

In 2005 we were given a hand out that told us how to park at Nuna dispatch in Yellowknife and I always thought it was pretty funny that (a) people were dumb enough that they needed to be told how to park, and (b) it mentions beer. The other day I found the sheet in the deep dark depths of my storage locker and last night I got around to scanning it. I think it turned out pretty well considering that when it spent a few days sitting on the table waiting to be scanned I spilled a beer on it....

Hey, I know that spot. You can see the ferry from there can't you?

Thanks for the report. I've enjoyed the photos.

it's from the 12 Foot Davis gravesite, the Shaftesbury ferry is just around the corner in the right of the pic.

Hey Squonker I've got a question for you. I saw a bit of the TV show and this one bit a truck was loaded up and the guy drove over to the scales to see if he was good to go. He was over-weight and was written a ticket for that.

Now I don't know how the show was actually edited but it seemed like the driver was being resonable, gets a load and moves what was supposed to be a very short distance to the scales and gets fined. Does that sort of thing happen often or did the show edit out that he really drove 50km before he got caught?

Hey man. My understanding is that those half dozen or so trailers, which were all going to Wha 'Ti or Deline or wherever it was (same road) were left at the scales at Enterprise because the road into Wha 'Ti is closer to there than it is to Yellowknife. Why drag the trailers all the way into YK when they're only going to go back in the same direction for the first 100 kms?

So Jay hooks up to his trailer and, as is the law, goes over the scales. He's overweight but because he is a civil servant without even the faintest idea how to think for himself or to think outside the box, 'Bart' writes him a ticket. Jay quite rightly argued that you have to give him a chance to get legal - I mean, he hadn't even taken that trailer off the scales premises and onto the highway yet, but Bart is....as mentioned above.

I have no doubt whatsoever that what Bart did is illegal and that if Jay had fought it he'd have won, but then you get into the argument as to whether it is worth the time to skip work and go to court etc. Round those parts, Bart is known as 'The Mermaid' 'cos he's the cunt with the scales....

Thanks for the insider view squonker. Just like officers everywhere there's automatons that are incapable of thought. Would be nice to fight it and win though. Enough tickets get turned over and I'm sure Bart would change his methods.

Thank you, kind sir.

This is the last pic from 2009 that I have. Will have to have decided whether or not I'll be back for 2010 within a week. Yikes.

Oh, we've been negotiating via PM for a while now! Finally we came to an agreement, and yesterday I officially signed up for 2010.

Shoot, and I thought I was old enough to know better.

See you in January!
