This is not done and I am very pissed off. I spent two hours glued in front of the monitor when I should have been taking care of some very important business. And the worst part is every trip that I have done seems crap in front of yours. Your writing and presentation style is amazing, addictive and simple.

I hate cities. To me they are just large containers for the desperate. Out in the rural areas one can be poor, but still live with integrity and self respect. I normally avoid cities like the plague when on a bike trip. Today I need what it offers though and so we descend.
I would repeat that i my head everytime I hit a city while on a ride.

Absolutely brilliant, this beats the crap out of LWR etcetras me thinks.

Rock On gentlemen.

This was a phenominal ride report. I am a lurker. I Love the stories and have read most of them, but this one had me walking to bed rubbing my numb butt last night. I couldn't get off my chair till I finished it.
I was on a motorbike when I was sixteen... 39 years ago. That was the only time in my life. I have missed out on loads of fun. shoosh, now you got my age. Oh well, getting up there, but reading these reports sure keeps you young at heart.

I really just want to add that you guys who ride the dualsport bikes are lookin too damned hot when you stand up on those pegs. Gotta get me a boyfriend with a bike.

Fantastic story and pics.

One question I am curious about:

* Did your 640 kick start normally before the trip? Having now owned 2 LC4's I know that kick starting them is easy once the magic technique is known and mastered. Did that choke issue have something to do with how hard it was to kick start?

Such a great RR! Reading this has allowed me to understand my reaction to a group ride we did to the North Slope this past June. You get out away from "civilization" and you meet the real civilized people. People dedicated to living, not winning, or buying whatever. Like the oil workers in Prudhoe who checked on our friend Blair all night long to make sure he was ok. Blair got to the slope late and slept in the gas shack. He woke up when someone opened the door. The guy said that they had all taken turns checking on him thru the night since his bike hadnt moved. Blair thought he was getting rousted.

There were more examples of that support for others all throughout our ride. It was so needed to have our faith in humans restored and i think that travelling on motorcycles is the only way to have that happen!
