Over a million views, it still has all the magig that put a lump in my throat the first time.
I was in Angola in 1981...... looking back, as mentioned elsewhere before.... WHY ? This report has a way of grounding one again.

Thank you for sharing this ride report. This one and "India and Nepal with 200cc" are two of my favorite ride reports in a long time. Magic.
Somehow I have got to figure out a way to earn enough money to take a year off. (And convince my wife to look after the kids for a little while with out me.

Metaljockey is a hero on this forum ................ ALL his ride reports are freaking excellent. Actually he is so super cool that if you wanted to rate a ride report, 5 stars its a "metaljockey" ..... check your rate meter and see for yourself.

This is still the greatest thread on Advrider - or on any board. So many things coming together - almost providence like.
What I really really like is that this thread - aside from the great riding, photo's, narrative, is that its about Redemption - which is why a lot of people here ride bikes. Life wins over the Doodsekker - Life wins over the destruction visitted on Angola by the military - Life wins over the destruction visitted on lives by a dodgy or destructive past. Put simply - Life is precious and Life wins. I don't know if anyone is clever enough to get the BBC Iplayer outside of the UK - but the Chinese are reconstructing Angola - and this is well worth watching http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...ing_Episode_1/ |

I can't believe I just found this thread.. Actually I found it three days ago, it took me that long to get through it..
I really have to agree, "best RR ever."
