It does indeed have the Z spokes and the double bearings. If you're in need of a solid rim, mine's pretty good. It'll be going up on Ebay soon, probably.

My XT must have had a wider rim laced onto it, because it's at least a quarter inch wider, and doesn't have the typical size markings on it.

Also, if anyone has a spare rear XT wheel lying around, I'm still looking for a reasonably priced one.

The TT rims seem seriously strong though. The rear rim had a significant lip bend / flatspot courtesy of the previous owner. Said rim ding would NOT move with bracing and the delicate strokes of a large metal hammer so out with the large heating torch, some careful support / bracing with a length of timber, a large assistant to hold said wheel and a big rubber hammer to belt the right amount of sense into said wheel.

What a difference it made to heat the defect area well and support it correctly. The flat spot is gone and the rim lip is now no more than 1 mm out of line. I massaged the flat spot first then the lip bend. Realistically this is a 2 person job.

Yee hah - my engine parts, tyres etc have arrived. The cyl head has been massaged with porting, new valve seals, valves / seats refaced and the cam caps massaged for < 2 thou clearance on the camshafts. Probably be a few valve shim changes to produce correct clearances. Light bore hone, new rings, a little bump in compression and additional oil cooling (2x) should see a more lively little motor. I'm gonna use some of TT Klaus' carbie settings as a start point for tuning.

intake boot

My 350 ran good until today. started idling pretty high. culprit seems to be a broken carb to head boot. Online i can only seem to find them for $40 + bucks. Seems outrageous. Anyone know of a cheap replacement?

high idle

recently my xt has developed a high idle after it has been warmed up and ridden. I could have my idle turned down to 1500 or so and after a ride it will progressively make its way past 3000. Now my carb boots were trashed so i siliconed them up while waiting for the new ones to come. Although they still may be leaking and causing this I think it may be something else. any ideas?

Silicone won't work on the boots. Don't bother trying to "fix" anything until you get new ones. I wouldn't ride the bike either.

do you think even the slightest leak would cause it to idle so high?

Any leak will cause all kinds of unpredictable problems. High idle is possible.

She's coming along. I'm pretty happy with the CycleRacks rear rack, and with the Clarke 4 gal tank I've confirmed range of up to 220 miles (with some gas still in the tank). 520 chain conversion tonight followed in the next couple days by installing my DG slip on and jet kit. Seat is being recovered in black today. Gotta pick up some new tires, too.

Anyone have a rear shock in good shape they'd like to sell? I have a hypercoils spring for it, I'd just like to keep my original shock and spring together as spares.

Looking at a used 1991 XT350. Guy has the title but can't seem to find the vin on the bike. Where do stamp the vin? On frame? On motor only?

Breathing

What do the masses say about replacement air filters? Any aftermarket one good, great, shit? I need to replace the stock and would want one with very little modification to the stock box.
