Hey everybody,

I'm supposed to be doing homework online but got bored and started poking around and found this thread. I built a Tracker and had a complete blast on the thing. I mad many a rally with my father-in-law and friends (all on Harley's) and everwhere I went the damn thing got kudo's and comments, always positive.

Well about a year after I finished a guy saw it and was pretty intent on buying it, so I sold it and with the money I bought a brand new 08 XR650L! Not a bad move I'd say, but my plans are to flog it off road and to work and then... TADDA!!! Flattrack it too!!! Just can't seem to scratch that itch... hope you like the pics'...

Later,
Dave Morgan

The photo was taken at Santa Fe Speedway in AUgust of 1970. I was there that night...Briggs was riding a Yamaha twin set up like a speedway bike with flat tracker numberplates. Briggs did not beat the flat trackers. He could not make the outside line work and faded and was eliminated in his 10 lap heat race.
He put on a great show and the crowd loved his outside line speedway style, so the promoter put up $300 winner take all for a 3 man match race between Dick Mann, Neil Keen (track champion at the time) and Briggo for after the main event. Briggo finished last.
BTW...Dick Mann won the national on an OSSA.

I saw what was advertised as Dick Mann's last pro race at the old Houston Astrodome sometime in the early-mid 70s. I was about 9 or 10 yrs old, and I was so sick with the flu I could hardly watch, but my parents later told me I would not allow them to leave me in the hotel room even though I was puking, which I don't remember. All I remember about the whole trip was the racing. In those days you could leave a kid in a hotel room alone.

Anyway, I remember that Mann was supposedly way past his prime, but he got a strong third place in the first heat race after coming from behind and passing several guys in the last few laps. Then I seem to remember in the last heat, he got a good start and actually led for awhile, before fading to 3rd or 4th. My memories might be off, I was a little kid, but I do remember people giving Mann a standing ovation after the race. He was definately still competitive at the time.

Is it just me or has the FT riding style evolved like all other moto racing styles. Looks like they're in mid highside. Freakin poetry in motion.

Was at a track (1/4mi) last Friday and no one rode that style. He could be wrestling that bike in..

Dan Rouit's Flat Track Museum, Clovis CA

If you LOVE flat track bikes then you have to go visit Danny Rouit's Flat Track Museum in Clovis, CA!

Great collection of bikes and Dan is a great guy to boot! His Open House is a MUST do!

Here's one my brother put together from spares around the shop. Redline frame,70' TR6 with 750 big bore, and lots of other good parts.

Found this one too. Taken at the Del Mar Concours D'elegance a few years back.

Oh yea, one more of a street tracker he's building for someone.
