Great pic... What sort of PSI do they run in those tires? Looks like a good contact patch there.

Somewhere in the 10-15 pound range. That's pretty much what them tires are designed for. That shot of Shame is on a 600 Rotax and he's about tapped out going into the corner on a 3/8'ths mile at about 80mph.

A bit of history
Factory Honda Flat Track Team 1980.
Mickey Fay and Jeff Haney pose next to their factory Hondas in a press photo for 1980. Fay is standing next to a Honda XR500-based short track bike while Haney stands behind the Honda CX500-based, water-cooled big track bike. Honda launched its Grand National Flat Track program the year before and Fay was the companys first hire. He won the 79 Houston TT to give the fledgling squad its first national win. In 1980 Haney, a first-year expert, got the season off on the right foot when he won the pole for the Houston Short track, becoming the first rookie do accomplish that feat. Haney scored two top-10 finishes that season with a best result of fifth at the Santa Fe Speedway (Hinsdale, Ill.) TT National. Fay scored podiums (both seconds) at the Houston Short Track and Ascot TT Nationals. From: http://www.theriderfiles.com/?m=201010 I had the chance to see Jeff Haney race the thumper race in the junior class against the big twins. BEAUTIFUL BIKE! I have some photos of it taken while I was there. Will share if I ever find them.

I remember those bikes and the riders as well. Also recall early-mid 80's with Bubba Shobert on the RS750 dirt tracker, solidly whooping everyone's butt. Pretty exciting watching those guys at the San Jose Mile.
Thanks for the memories lad!
