You had to bring up the A$$ Pickers, didn't you?

That is a cool bike indeed. The way it is, it is a display piece. Restored it can be for show or go. If it's documented along the way, there is no reason it couldn't be re-done and used.

Zilla!

I think there is a big difference between patina and neglect. this bike's been neglected to some degree. It would still be OK to leave as is but I think the upside is huge given the original blueprint is there to basically restore it to exactly what it looked like before its dark years set in. I also think patina is much more important on stock/factory produced bikes, this ones obviously not stock any more. got to keep that seat though, what a classic.

what jerks those guys are. they really have no class at all.

lets see, old widow needs money, I'll offer $600 for something I know is worth $2000.

gee why not tell her to send it to auction where it will get her the most money?

scumbags.

I never owned one but always liked the big Rotax singles.

Well, it just might be a reasonably stock bike. If the frame number starts with BB32R and the engine number is DBD34GS26XX range, then it could very well be a factory built Gold Star dirt track bike. There were about 200 produced in 1956. The engine number may vary a bit, but it will be in that range.

Those bikes had the rigid frame and DBD34GS motor which was introduced that year alongside the DB motor. There are dating guides that give the engine S/N, just going off memory and association with one some years ago.

BTW, the seat ain't stock

Kenny McDonald's bussiness card.
It shows him on Eddie Willbanks roundcase 750 Ducati tracker. I was at the Louisville Downs in 1977 and these guys were there too for the AMA National. I didn't own a Ducati then , but, I pulled hard for the Duck because it was something different.
Kenny Roberts was there as well on the mono-shock 750 Yamaha twin. He was the only guy I saw going all the way round feet up and sideways trying to rein in the runaway H-Ds.

The Ducati in restored condition.

That Triumph looks good except for:

Front fender looks totally out of place and wrong on a street tracker. Besides, it's totally useless as a fender so why have it there at all?

Front fork angle almost looks too steep, like the triple clamps are offset or raked differently than the steering head on the frame.
