now that's nice!

Jehu, very well done with the headlight/numberplate combo there. The stock headlight location on both the VT and FT ascots always looked horrible to me.

With an XR1200 sitting in my garage, I can tell you that the XR1200/XR1200X would eat that Shadow for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and maybe even for a midnight snack. Not exactly your grandpappy's Sportster.

Not a truebred "racebike," but can still haul ass. Especially for a 50+ year old motor design (air/oil cooled, push rod with a primary chain).

Thanks, I've since lowered the headlight some more and built this rear everything eliminator to clean up that mess.

Question In search of parts

New to this thread. Spend my time over at Thumpers. Before I post pics of my build, I am in need of a few parts to convert my 1972 XS 650(750 jugs added) Flat Tracker to a Street tracker. Anyone have a spare set of triple clamps for a 1975-78 XS 650 laying around? I upgraded so I could add front brakes. have forks and disk wheel, now just need triple clamps.

I unloaded all my old xs parts on another guy to store in HIS garage for ten years, so I can't help you there, but I think you may have issues anyways, I believe the steering stem on the newer XS is longer and won't fit the older model without some machine work.
