I was just going to post the same. Not a bad price for the features offered.

Ok, I bougt this thin almost a year ago and actually forgot about it because the phone apps do a pretty good job anymore but today I was in several new areas without signal. For $30.00 a year I'm guessing the maps are worth it. Are they very detailed in remote areas? I dug it out today never used it.

There is no way to add vector based maps to the Bushnell, the one I have has since died, glad I didnlt pay big bucks for it.
There is Raster based maps for the Bushnell but they;re not practical because they slow the unit down tremendously with just a small area of 50 sq miles loaded into it.

I would not buy another one, the base maps are useless on anything more than an Interstate or major highway. I love the display of it. But the real world usability leaves alot to be desired.

I know of no way to add vector based (drawn lines) maps to the Onix units.
Bushnell is not going to give any information on the devices to help either.
Your better off selling the Onix and getting a better known name that can be upgraded.
GPSBabel does not convert maps at all, it only converts between gps user data formats.

Its not a standard format, but the images are jpg type compressed image file with geo location data encoded. My Onix is Dead.
If I can find it I got a few of the images on the memory card.

My Bushnell account is good till December 9.

Bushnell ONIX 400

Does anyone use/know anything about the Bushnell ONIX 400 GPS? Is it compatible with Garmin tracks? Ive seen some pretty attractive prices lately ($79.99 Circuit City).

Resurrecting

I have the Onix 350 from woot. I too can get the Geocache WPT files loaded, but am unable to get a successful Trail file converted from Google Earth KML to Bushnell TRL.

I fired up the Bushnell Onix 350 and started a new trail. The trail was 23 miles long. SD card shows two files created for this trail. TRA and TRL extensions are used.

I have downloaded a bunch of Forest Service roads for Georgia in Google Earth KML format. They show up beautifully in Google Earth. I tried converting them to TRL with GPSBABEL, but the Onix rejects them.

I am so close to getting the FS roads loaded on my Onix, but obviously there is more work to be done.

It is probably a lost cause and I should buy a REAL GPS for the bike.
